From a small town in North Texas, Eric Tipton was brought up on a steady diet of old-school soul and singer/songwriters. By the age of 17, Tipton was using his talent to woo crowds in the hundreds. Less than five years later Tipton had a succesful career in the Christian Worship Music world. After leaving his career behind to venture down other musical avenues, Tipton found outlets in writing about love, life, and music.
With his debut release, MyWorld/MyStage, Tipton showed a wisdom and despair far beyond his 25 years. Taking the listener on a journey through heartache and insight into the musical life he chose, Tipton gave us a glimpse of his ever-changing musical style.
With his sophomore album, Straight From The Couch, Tipton redirected us into a soulful exchange of poetic melodies and down-to-earth lyrical content. Once again, Tipton delighted in not having a genre to fit into.
With melodies and music ranging from Bill Withers to James Taylor, Tipton combines a love for roots music with a mind for storytelling. Finding a home has never been difficult for Tipton or his music.
"I don't care about formula. All I care about is the music and the message. Will the music get the message across and will the message be able to touch someone? Understanding, that is what I want. Musical and emotional. Can someone grab onto this music and can it tell THEIR story for them? Music and storytelling are universal. Life is inspiration. Music is the way we speak about those things that either hurt too much to speak of or that are so good we don't want to jinx them."
