I am all about the musical storytellers (JimmyBuffett, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark), but I also have a deep twisted love of Hip Hop, Heavy Metal, and punk. The end result of my writing takes on a bit of a Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show type quality. Pretty Cool.
Sounds Like
I have sort of a country/rock/punk/acoustic flair, sort of like Dr. Hook meets Sublime. I am very much a muscial whore though, and will write or play anything thats needed. Classical, flaminco, jazz, blues, showtunes - its all the same to me.
Born in Western Kentucky, named after Eric Burton, mamma liked country, daddy liked rock, grandpa pushed jazz, schooled by three of the finest primary and secondary level music educators in the state who insisted on extensive classical knowledge, went to school with a multiple Grammy winning Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman, heavy metal greaser friends, hippie sister ---- mix it all in a bowl - add various mental defects and character flaws - bake for a long, long, long time - & voila -------
I am an extremely prolific writer who works in many genres (music, slam poetry, short story, screenplay, novel, comic book). One day I realized that my work could never be finished sitting in a file closet somewhere. Art requires an audience to be complete. I didn't want to be the guy who died with a mountain of great stuff, never read, seen, appreciated or even hated. So here I am.-------
I'm now placing myself out there, and the feedback is a little humbling. People are actually getting my stuff, and that is a strange feeling for a closet artist. I am performing all over Paducah, KY and anywhere else I'm allowed to sit and play for a few minutes. The Novel is in revision. The Poetry book is being printed, the album is in production, and many new ideas are taking hold - Watch out for a series of music festivals in the Paducah area.
Erik and Shawna, I miss you guys so much, I wish I would have gotten to see you before I left for Florida!! I'll be back up visiting in Dec, so I will defiantly see you then!!! Miss you bunches hope all is well and grand.. Love you guys!

Okay, so I didn't go to ETC on Friday but, in my defense. . . it was the first time I've had time to myself in a while and I didn't want to. LOL! But, I would have extended an invite to you and your wife and KIDS. . . to come hang out because I really am interested in getting to know you both more. I loved my cd's. . :) Your wife is super talented. That piece she wrote about the woman and her farm was just fucking awesome. Anyway. . . I'm sending you an email. . . use it! :)
VMaX. . . with the feminine "a"! Oh and Merry Christmas!
I saw Dr. Hook and the Medicine show live many years ago at an outdoor festival and it was pretty wild. Cool stuff man. Thanks for the add. Stop by Etcetera Saturday the 6th if you get a chance. I'll be playing a few tunes. www. budsummers. com
Please be advised that regretting to inform me that your attorneys have claimed I/we have not paid the appropriate "Kool Fees" for your/them/their appearance on i/me/mine/us/them's site is not sufficient grounds for regretabilitation. My lawyers are bigger than your lawyers and have blacker briefcases and their shoes are pointy, so watch out buster!
