Erika Alcocer Luna was born to Francisco Javier Alcocer and Laura Luna on July 19, 1974 in Tampico, Tamaulipas. When she was a kid she wanted to be Miss Universe and a Military Doctor. Her parents always saw in her the love for music and arts, her first words were "listen to the music". Since then and while she was growing up she would participate singing in school festivals and also imitating celebrities.
Influenced by the music Erika looks forward to be a member of several musical groups, in which her father is not totally in agreement. Already swelling and counting on the total support of her parents she becomes a member of several groups, thus singing in weddings, celebrations and events. Erika got pregnant when she was 18 years old from her boyfriend Ricardo, both young people decided to get marry and to confront with maturity and the gift that God and the life had granted to them. A baby which would take the name "María José", Erika becomes a young mother, but this was not an obstacle to fill her daughter with love.
Erika continues working and studying to keep her daughter moving ahead, the time passes and the small Maria Jose grows and shares with her mother the love for music. Again at 28 years old Erika gets pregnant, a boy named Erik Ricardo leaves Erika and her family a different sense to see life. Erika fills the home of the Alcocer family with joy giving the force to the family but specially to his mother to follow ahead with strenghth and love and to make her understand that he chose her to be a very Special mom full of love and light and whose mission has just began.
In 2002 due to the great success of reality show seeking new voices "La academia", TV Azteca decides to make the second season of this program, the search for new talents will take them to San Luís Potosí in where Erika auditions, managing to pass each one of the stages of the one, obtaining therefore a position between the 16 new students of the school of high performance.
On December 3 during the finale of the first season they presented the 16 new voices of the new season. In where Erika for the first time demonstrated what she was able to do, leaving everyone astonished by her powerful and great voice. The weeks passed and Erika was located in the first positions of the voting table, conquering the public with her wonderful interpretations full of passion, gives and voice.
On March 30, 2003 the finale arrives and Myriam (the first season first place winner) announces that Erika is the winner of the second season of "La academia". Managing to crown her dream, to be well-known and heared by Mexico and the world. Soon came the participation in the music show "Desafio de Etrellas" ("Star Challenge") where the two talented seasons of the reality show were united in a great competition. Erika makes it to the finale obtaining a great fourth place, in addition to have been the only representative of her season.
