Pittsburgh native, singer/songwriter, Erin Burkett has led "The Mean Reds" since 1994 throughout her hometown and the Northeastern United States.
Burkett's earliest musical inspirations were formed in the church in traditional spirituals ~ her vocal stylings remain rooted in the same.
Having performed since childhood, Erin began her professional career in 1988 traveling the East Coast hotel circuit with The John Parker
Band. Her musical journey has been colored by her love for the blues, a genre in which she has lingered for the past eleven years.
She has produced two CD's of original music ~ The earlier of these
(self-titled), traces her look into the blues. The most current recording, ("Long Walk Home"), musically pronounces her current hybrid of soul, roots, and gospel with lyrics that give a personal glance into her heart.
Erin Burkett and The Mean Reds have been busy growing loyal audiences in the tri-state area. Burkett's performance experience includes countless gigs at clubs and festivals, live television and radio spots and has lent her vocals to others' recordings over the years as well. She receieves radio play locally, on National Public Radio, and in Germany and Macedonia.
She has shared the stage with such legends as KoKo Taylor, John Mayall, Savoy Brown and newcomer, Susan Tedeschi.
Burkett still enjoys the opportunity to share her music in various church related events.
