Erin ’s songwriting is a unique blend of 1930s and 40s jazz, post punk and 60’s pop. Unlike most piano playing pop musicians, Erin’s eclectic influences and baritone voice allow her to avoid being defined by genre.
From the first ghostly notes of Erin Costelo’s debut EP, The Trouble and the Truth, the mood is set for a unique artistic experience...
Made up of piano led compositions that divide their focus between jazz informed songwriting and playful experimental arrangements, the album’s seven tracks dodge any kind of convention. Costelo’s warm and accomplished vocals blanket each track with a hushed intimacy as her lyrics deliver a hard won perspective rare this early in an artist’s career.
Erin - Thank you sooo much for performing at the Jazz, Blues & BSL fundraiser for the Dog Legislation Council of Canada... your generosity of spirit is reflected in your music -everyone was blown away! And I am thanking you in advance for agreeing to perform at the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia's brunch for the Festival of Trees fundraiser this coming Sunday, Nov. 25th- YOU ROCK p.s. remember to bring more CD's to sell eh
Erin Costelo has answered her own query. She herself is a maverick, with all angles covered. Her classic original song forms bust out with style, heart and true promise. Jackpot alert indeed!
Middle age, huh? Me too. On Friday, Me, JR, Drew, and Tom were listening to ELO, the Doobie Brothers, and James Taylor's new stuff. We all agreed that all of the above is "totally awesome". This also happened during a "beer tasting" in which we compared Belgian style brown ales. So much for Schlitz and Slayer... Oh, and we also discussed a weekend trip upstate to a vineyard. Game Over.
Hi Erin! You sound fantastic as always. I was just thinking about your song about the fashionista and would love to hear it again. Do you have it recorded? If so you should post it! Hope all is well.
xx
Thanks for sharing your home and your beer with me on Saturday night. Booze, smokes, tunes, good conversation (and a lovely dog)... it doesn't get better than that.
I keep getting a mental picture of a bongo-playing guy with unclipped toenails in Birkenstocks ... and it's all your fault. Bad visual... excellent song.
Loved your show on Saturday night. Your voice is so smoooth and your lyrics made me feel like sobbing... but in a good way. You know... the FUN kind of sobbing.
