  • Music

I listen to different types of music, but my main loyalty will always remain with rock.
Some of the musicians I listen to are Poison, Candlebox, Skid Row, Stevie Nicks, Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Whitesnake, Henry Rollins, Don Henley/The Eagles, Sarah McLachlan, Matchbox Twenty, Zero1, Bon Jovi, Pantera, Stone Temple Pilots, Billy Idol, Godsmack, Lita Ford, Dream Theater, Aerosmith, Fiona Apple, Great White, George Thorogood, Loreena McKennitt, Tom Petty, The Beach Boys, Sinead O'Connor, Joan Jett, and I could go on and on, but I won't.
I also listen to Celtic-type music, new age music, sounds of nature cd's, classical instruments, blah, blah, blah.
  • Movies

Documentaries, films that make you think about what you can do to change the world, epics, dark comedies and of course anything with hot guys who take their shirts off. 300 was like Heaven due to that last reason.
  • Television

Most of my television time is on Friday nights. Anthony will usually be watching some nerdy Scifi show and then I join him at 11 for Real Time with Bill Maher (the only reason I have HBO). After that, we turn to NatGeo for The Dog Whisperer and after that Dog Town. I love YouTube and would ask it to marry me if I weren't already promised to dictionary.com.
  • Books

I read mostly non-fiction, but also like fantasy (not a big fan of Sci-Fi)and historical fiction when I have the time. I like learning stuff, considering philosophies, and expanding my spiritual growth. I am not sure that spiritual is the right term since I am not religious. Maybe I should just say my growth as a person...
  • Heroes

The search for a hero should begin within.
Here's a quote from my personal journal:
"I must hold my sword to the sky and be fearless in the face of impending war. I must summon that part of myself that paces in wait of resurrection. I must be the strength that endures and the beauty that inspires. I must be myself. I must charge ahead to meet the opposing forces and I must conquer them. I need to give a respectful nod to who I have always been. I need to rise to the occasion and be her champion."

That being said, She-ra is pretty darn cool.

About me:

I've always done things my way and in a lot of cases, it hasn't been done traveling the traditional path. I have never been the worn road. I am the wooded overgrowth and shadowy concave. I am my own.

I moved to Georgia from Southern California in 2000. Due to my large family of animals (being unable to find suitable housing elsewhere because of them and refusing to give them up), I just kinda got stuck in this place.

I'm always looking for the opportunity to get out of here, but in the meantime, I want to work towards leaving the local animals in better circumstances than I first discovered them.

Just because I can't help them all doesn't mean that I should stop helping who I can. One person can make a difference. Every life is worth it. Never doubt the power that you hold within yourself.

Also, just because life can be a bitch doesn't mean that you have to be one too. There is power in the positive and we should all strive to put that kind of energy out into the world. Let's not be so crappy all the time or act like people owe us something. You hold the power to make the world better. Use it wisely. Use it with strength and courage. Use it. Become your own hero.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." -- Gandhi

If we all harnessed the power of one, just imagine how incredible the power of unity could be.

The time to start walking the walk is now.

Instead of using all of our energy fighting against, perhaps we should start fighting for.

On a more personal level...

I love popcorn, avocado rolls with ginger dressing, and cool autumn nights under the moon. I embrace the good, the bad and the naughty. I named my bicycle Leonidas due to the character in the film "300" - you know, because I oil him up and ride him often. With the exception of my bicycle and the occasional Gerard Butler, Brad Pitt or Hugh Jackman (think Wolverine not Leopold) movie, I am 100% faithful to my partner and have every intention of staying that way, so don't bother with the pervy myspace hook-up messages that you send to every chick within a 50 mile radius. I am a very sexual person by nature and believe that sexuality should be embraced and not shamefully hidden away, but that doesn't mean that your penis interests me. My home office is purple and silver and pretty messy. I'm kinda bad ass. I am NOT religious. My mood can often be determined by the wiggle of my feet. Every dream I ever have includes some form of water. I believe in miracles, even if they don't always have the outcome imagined. I'm straight and support gay marriage. I don't smoke it, but I support the legalization of marijuana. I'm a vegan, but don't hate on omnivores - in fact, my partner (who I'd go so far as to call my soulmate whether we like it or not) is one. I have been vegan since January 2000, poop at least a few times a day, and no, my shoes are not leather. And yes, I did see you staring at my boobs, but that's okay - they're a fun natural D and I stare at them too. ;-p

"I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." --- Sarah Williams

I write a lot. Here's one of my poems (I'll change it at whim):

"Dark Veil"

If you see me clothed in the dark veil
Will you still stay the night?
Will you try to catch me from where I fell?
Or will you slip away in fright?

If I wear the dark veil
Will our romance still feel this right?
If I wear the dark veil
Will it ugly shade the bridal white?

When my funeral eyes peer out
As though from midnight webs of lace
Will you open your mouth and shout
In terror at the ghost that wears my face?

When I wear the dark veil
Will it stain our fate?
When I wear the dark veil
Will the second-guesses saturate?

When I shed the costume light
When I show you what's inside
When I let you look inside
Deep into my haunted eyes

When I wear the dark veil
Will you flee the night?
When I wear the dark veil
Will you cease to hold me tight?

When I wear the dark veil
Will I doom our fate?
When I wear the dark veil
Will it already be too late?

Maybe I'll keep it down inside
Maybe I'll lock it away and hide
Maybe I'll glue on the costume light
Maybe I'll make-believe my own life

Maybe I'll pretend webs of white
Maybe I'll illusion it's all right
Maybe I'll cease to hold on tight
And steal away to cry alone at night

Maybe I'll save the dark veil
For lonely moments out of sight
Maybe I'll bury the dark veil
Beneath soil of secrets and lies

Because if you see me wear the dark veil
Then all we have will die
If I wear the dark veil
You'll know who I am, say good-bye

Who I'd like to meet:

People wanting to work towards positive change in the world.

I like people with an inner strength. Sometimes being strong means sticking to your guns even when it makes things uncomfortable.

Strength is being true to who you are and acting on that truth.

"What's popular is not always right. What's right is not always popular." - unknown

Also on my list are The Dalai Lama, Jane Goodall, Cesar Millan, Gerard Butler, Brad Pitt, Bill Maher, Joan Jett, Pierce Brosnan, Al Gore, Eddie Vedder, Hal Sparks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Billy Idol, Weird Al, and anyone who can help me help get animals rescued, or just make the world a better place in general.

Please note: I am AWFUL about replying to messages. I am usually not a very good choice if you are wanting someone to randomly chat with. Please don't be offended. A lot of times I don't even respond consistently to the people I know. It isn't that I don't care or that I don't appreciate the time taken to contact me, I just really truly suck at some things and responding regularly is one of them.
Thanks for understanding :)

As a side note:
I'm not here to pimp myself. Please don't pimp yourself to me. Don't send me obvious "hook up" messages because I'll probably just delete them. If I don't delete them, I will most likely forward them to my boyfriend and we will laugh at you together.

Thank you for supporting OVFA! Please take a moment to look around our profile, read the blogs and answer the weekly questions! OVFA is a very open minded animal rights group that welcomes opinions from all who want to give them. We believe that every animal is as important as the next and none are ever left out here. From the land, to the sky, to the ocean, to your backyard and home, we love them all. Our supporters are extremely important to us so, please feel free to message anytime. You'll will get a response and all of your questions will be answered. OVFA is here for the animals, but we're also here for the people who love them. And when you get a chance, please visit our official website at, www.OurVoicesForAnimals.org and sign our guestbook!

I'm always asked the question "How can I help?" One easy way to contribute is to visit one of my favorite websites. www.TheAnimalRescueSite.com. Their sponsors donate food to shelter animals every time you click! Its easy, quick and free. But don't forget them on the weekends, their numbers really go down Fri-Sun.

Thanks again for supporting us and welcome to OVFA!
