Influenced by her father, a music fanatic, she was lucky enough to be brought up on artists like--The Beatles, Nat King Cole, and Al Jolson. After 4 years in North Olmsted High School's award winning ensemble, "Special Edition" (directed by Chris Venesile), she attended Western Michigan University and was part of their "Gold Company Program". She returned home after a year in Michigan to attend Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio-- where she enrolled in the renowned Jazz Studies Program. Drawing the attention of the faculty, she began singing with Ernie Krivda’s Fat Tuesday Big Band, appearing on three tracks of the band’s CD, Body and Soul. As a result of the opportunities given to her by Krivda and the Tri-C program, Kufel was fortunate to connect with many of the top jazz musicians in Cleveland. Now, Erin is singing with Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band, Ernie Krivda's Quintet, is half of a duo called "The Sweetest Sounds" (Lee Bush on guitar), and is a part of "The Song is You!", a series lead by radio personality, Bill Rudman and piano great, Joe Hunter...NEW to the list is "SWING AND A MISS"--a band co-lead by Kufel and Lee Bush... **In response to a premier appearance at Cleveland’s Nighttown, with The Sweetest Sounds, a reviewer stated that, “Kufel showed a rare gift for putting her personal stamp on an old song, even while respecting its narrative and its emotional tone…her intelligent phrasing is as natural as breathing.**
