Known in the past as Boston’s Irish rebel band “Boston's Érin Og” has broadened thier scope of Irish music to a more eclectic repetoire of contemporary and traditional music. (They say the war's over, but we still have hope!) Erin Og's rollicking performance and crowd participation makes everyone in the room a part of the band.
Érin Og is composed of band members Bobby from Medford, MA vocals/whistle. Frankie Kelly (formerly of Ulster rebel band "Spirit of Freedom") mandolin/banjo/vocals, from Letterkenny, Donegal. David "Quick Draw" Mcgrath (founding member of the "Old Brigade Band") from Coolock, Dublin, Ire. vocals/guitar/mandolin, and Ronnie Aviles from Boston fiddle/guitar/vocals.
Drawing from years of experience playing Irish music, Érin Og have united together to form a veritable tour-de-force of Irish folk music in the Boston area. Mixing mandolin, fiddle, tin whistle, and driving acoustic guitar rhythms, along with powerful vocal harmonies, Érin Og is a band you don't want to miss.

One of the true joys of listening to Celtic music is the opportunity of coming across new tracks by unknown artists who know how to capture the essence of tradition with skill and originality. Such is the CD EP "Erin Og" by Frank and the Yank. From the very first notes on, we are treated to an earnest and authentic presentation delivered with the kind of authority we'd expect from Irish masters the likes of the Clancy's, and the Chieftains. The simplicity of the production-vocals backed by guitar, banjo and whistle-perfectly reflects the unadorned magic contained in the bona fide folk tradition of the Emerald Isle.
Here's hoping we get to hear a lot more from this fine Celtic combo. -Gene Ira Katz
