DETAILS magazine calls Alt-Country blues artist Erin Sax Seymour, "Tough and sweet, smart and streetwise, her melodies mesmerizing...Sax is the real thing…".
Title track for Erin's debut CD GOOD GIRL has been in rotation on CMT and VH1. This year she has been signed to perform the Janis Joplin song 'Piece of My Heart' for the major motion picture "Black Heart Road" and the title track for the feature film "Red Robin" starring Jeremy Sisto, Hill Harper and Claire Forlani. This years endorsements include TAKAMINE GUITARS and 4STROKES JEANS.
Touring coast to coast, Sax Seymour and her five piece band “Hands Off My Sister” have been performing at legendary venues across the United States and Europe including B.B. King's, Tipitina's, The House of Blues and The Triple Door, as well as opening for great acts such as Robert Earl Keen, Marshall Crenshaw and The Samples. Sax Seymour has been a showcase artist at the SXSW and International Folk Alliance music festivals, featured Emerging Artist at this summer's Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and has been the spotlight performer most recently on National Public Radio's 'Performance Place', 'Caravan Blues Radio Hour', and ‘Alchemist Playground’, with upcoming feature profiles in In Style Magazine both in Europe and the United States.
Sax started writing songs as a teenager to help her through tough times and then as a way to record the experiences she witnessed while traveling the world as a documentary filmmaker. Whether it was living in hiding in an Armenian Monastery, following Baptist speaking in tongues at the River Jordan, filming burial rituals around the world or documenting life inside a Texas men’s prison, she has seen some of life’s many twist and turns.
Through it all she understood that there really are just a handful of stories and moods that every person comes across in their lifetime, no matter their circumstance. Her music is the heart of these stories. It is about the character, integrity, and flaws that we all share as we alternately stumble and fly through our worlds.
