Blessed with a striking stage presence and a powerful voice, singer-songwriter-guitarist Erin Smith leaves a lasting impression.
Born in Toronto, Smith spent her youth in a large musical family, learning violin and vocals.
She took up guitar in her teens, began writing songs and was quickly asked to perform at prestigious festivals such as Canadian Music Week and North by Northeast.
After sharing the stage with notable Canadian artists (Feist, Tegan and Sara) and touring much of North America and some of Europe and Cuba with her band and her all-girl collective, the Ladybird Sideshow, Erin decided to move south and hone her songwriting and performing skills in some nice weather.
Smith relocated to the Hawaiian island of Maui in 2004, and has been shuffling between the islands and the mainland to perform ever since. While on Maui she has amassed a large and devoted fan-base and made notable appearances at local events such as 311 at the Lahaina Civic Center (2008), a double-bill with Oahu siren Paula Fuga (2008) and opening slots for NOFX on Maui and Oahu (2009). Many of these performances have been with her awesome punkish-rock band The Throwdowns.
Erin has released one album entitled “Swagger”, a strong seller both at live shows and online at the shops of distributors itunes, Amazon and Rhapsody. Stylistically diverse, her music falls into the pop-rock realm, but is peppered by elements of punk, reggae, country soul and jazz.
Currently Smith performs solo, as a duo (with a bass player) or with The Throwdowns.
The Throwdowns will be releasing their debut album in July 2009.

My wife and I stopped by Sat. and checked out the show. You have a great thing going on! We enjoyed it very much. You did an outstanding job at a tough gig. We hope the very best for you. Very exciting times with your band and the new CD.We will spread the good word back in Canada. Maui has a wonderful music community. First time my son played here, he was twelve and the island just took him in and let him play. He loves coming here and playing with his island friends although he could not make this trip. Hopefully our paths will cross on some stage some where. Have a great life. Thanks for sharing your gift! Dave
Roger, Madeline, Maxi and I had such a good time at the Tiki Lounge last night! You were in rare form as usual, and the Thai pizza? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm "All the Answers" is brilliant and I like it as much solo as on the Throwdowns cd- those lyrics are so damn sharp! Aloha, Mary
