Erire Obano was born and bred in South London and has Nigerian parentage. She has a unique vocal style and songwriting ability that sets her apart from many of her contemporaries.
Her early co-writing projects began with The Band of Gypsies (the production team that wrote and produced Rozalla's hit anthem 'Everybody's Free') which resulted in the songs 'I Wanna Thank You' and 'It's Over Now' for Sue Challoner. Her first solo outing was also co-written with The Band of Gypsies, 'I Just Can't Give You Up', released on Faze 2/Pulse 8 Records. This track fast became a UK club smash with the help of a remix by Stonebridge, and culminated in a UK tour with Kym Sims. She also co-wrote and sang lead vocals with Fuzzy Logic on their single 'Obsession', which was produced by William Orbit and released on Guerilla Records. This track has become a UK cult club classic, and was recently re-released by Jackpot records with mixes by Stonebridge and Danny Howells. Her next releases were on Logic Records. 'Shine', again produced by Band of Gypsies, was remixed by Graham Park and became a Hacienda club classic, also reaching the Top Ten of the Billboard Club Chart. Her second single for Logic, 'Could This Be the Love', was produced and co-written with Mike Koglin and remixed by Happy Clappers. It too became Top Ten on the Billboard Club Chart.
Remix of 'Obsession' led to Erire working with Danny Howell's and Dick Trevor (a.k.a Science Department) resulting in 'Breathe', which was released by Renaissance Records with mixes by Lexicon Avenue and Shaboom. This became a club hit, bringing acclaim and attention to the team.
Recent chart success come with the track 'Destination', co-written with Darren Tate of Jurgen Vries (The Opera Song) fame, and vocals performed by Roxanne Wild (Kim Wilds sister). Erire's melody and lyrics for 'Destination', have been highly acclaimed and considered to be one of the best top-lines ever written in it's genre. Erire has co-written tracks with Darren for the currently available 'DT8' album, and 'Destination' has been re-mixed and released through Mondo Records. With fresh new mixes from heavyweights such as Above And Beyond, and Mark Eteson.
The top 20 hit opened the doors, and created massive interest in Erire's song writing skills. In recent years she has co-written and vocalised tracks for, Mike Koglin, Andy Morris and Ben Angwin, Darren Stokes (Tin-Tin Out) and Philip Larsen, Simon Paul (Lost Witness) and Seamus Haji and Steve Mac's, 'Happy'. She has also worked with the Shapeshifters (who re-mixed 'Dusk Till Dawn'), and K-Klass (aka, We Deliver) with the co-write for 'Breathe Again' and 'Supernatura'l, released through Nocturnal Records. 'Breathe Again' has currently been revived with a fresh new classic smooth style house remix by Danny Howells, and is set for a re-release through Nocturnal Records with further new mixes from We Deliver.
The buzz in 2004/5, surrounding Erire was with the track she co-wrote with Danny and Dick Trevor. 'Dusk Till Dawn' was a massive club hit for the collaborative label's of Deep Dishes - Yoshitoshi and Mark Browns - Cr2. 'Dusk Til' Dawn' was heavily championed by Pete Tong and Danny Rampling. Again Erire supplied the vocals for the track.
2007 saw the collaborative efforts of Stonebridge and Erire, to create the infectious "S.O.S", Which went on to become a huge club anthem, and seeing it crowned as Music Week's Club Charts no. 1 record of the year! Erire is currently working on a follow up with Stonebridge.
