In 2007 Erlend Ropstads debut album was released. And that's only a couple of years after he first decided to play and record his own material. The mini-album THE MAGNETIC TAPES came out in February 2006, and during a short period of time Erlend has had several radio hits on Norwegian and European radio, he has played MANY concerts, had music on the great horror movie "Fritt Vilt", played support for artists like Big Bang, Magnet, Thomas Dybdahl and Teitur. He had his first own European tour in 2007, he has had plenty of festival gigs and basically just started what seems to be a great and very promising career in music.
REC90 (sonet/universal) released both the EP, The Magnetic Tapes(2006, produced by Øystein Greni in Grand Sport Studio) and the album Bright Late Nights (2007, produced by Davide Bertolini and recorded in Grieghallen studio in Bergen, Norway) The same guy and studio that made the great Riot On An Empty Street album by Kings Of Convenience. Davide is also the bass player in KOC, and on most songs on Erlends album.
On a more personal level: Erlend has a background as a photographer, journalist, teacher and lives in the small mountain village Oppdal, just south of Trondheim, Norway. His music is said to be inspired by the classic singer/songwriters of the Americana genre. -But it is also very melodic and sometimes just cheerfull. It's been said that his music is more melancomic, than anything else. Go figure out what that means :)

"Sounds like wind blowing in a wheatfield, train rolling down the line, rain coming down on a old tin shed, steel, wire and a rusty heart. Boots of leather and dust and ash. Mollasess and coal and stone. Wedding rings and buried bones of love broken and burnt. Tales and the footprints, ravenswings and souls are earnt"
