Chi sono: Profile edited with:CricketSoda Myspace Profile Editor
Musician and citizen of the world. Living in the fine borough of Brooklyn, NY (originally from Minneapolis, MN). Liberal thinker, intellectual for the most part and proud as hell of it. Play trumpet, electric bass, keyboards, guitar, drums, some harmonica, and sing a mean tune, kid. Love irreverent humour.
Current musical projects I am involved in are:
Department of Good and Evil featuring Rachel Z: Trumpet
Hanz Erik and the Hims: Bassist and throat.
The Aries Project: Trumpet, textures, squeaks, gurgles and other effects.
Gabriel James Band: Trumpet, occasional vocals and auxiliary instrumentation (guitars, percussion)
International artists I have performed with include Grammy winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, guitarist Shane Fontayne (Springsteen, Sting), English pop singer Julia Fordham, and more recently with jazz pianist Rachel Z as a member of the Department of Good and Evil. I have performed at venues including the Blue Note NYC, the Jazz Standard (with special guest Tony Levin!), and the Dakota in Minneapolis with the band. Check out our Department of Good and Evil album on Savoy Records which also features guest bassist Tony Levin. Also check out this clip from the touring trio version of the band live in Cincinnati!
I have performed at the Guthrie Theatre, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Fitzgerald Theatre, the Historic State Theatre, the Artist's Quarter, the Dakota, and countless other Twin Cities and regional venues. I have also appeared alongside Michael Monroe, photographer Jim Brandenburg, Tony Axtell, Pete Whitman's X-tet, and Jason Peterson DeLaire.
Mi piacerebbe conoscere: People of like minds and interests. As far as celebrities...see my heroes list, I guess.
Hey Erik, wassup? I know I said I would like to use you on some tracks and you were gracious enough to not offend me and said "sure, call me". Well, I still have your card here on my desk...and I will call you. Now, just when, is a really good question... ;) -- AK
I see you're playing with Rachel again soon, wish I could make it. I will, however, be in town around the 23rd for bit. We should catch a show, play some muzik, or at the very least, grab an adult beverage.
My summer classes start the monday after we get back unfortunately..I'm going to try to come up when possible, maybe a weekend, but definitely in August at some point.
Yes, Facebook requires copious amounts of Bahama Mama's before it will open up enough for you to "get with it." I've tried and its still threatening to disable my account whenever I try to mix business with pleasure. Myspace is way easier.
That's a fantastic idea, even though those keyboards look oppressively massive. I wonder how many back surgeries they have endured as a result..thanks for the birthday wishes, I feel old.
Speaking of old, I'm going on tour soon, you're probably not going to be in any of the cities...but don't you have a sister in Pittsburgh? If she likes jazz you should mention it to her..we don't know anything about Pittsburgh (except for that the kid in Weeds is infatuated with it). http://www. nmquintet. com
Oh also, I just found out that Facebook is a terrible place to guerilla market shows to people. I got a stern warning that my account would be deactivated if I continued "spamming." I guess you gotta pay to take advantage of Facebook's built-in demographic targeting ability..
