On August 29, 2009, in roughly an hour’s passing, the Garcia family lost upwards of $400,000 as their home of over 40 years, and all their worldly possessions were engulfed in the flames of the Station Fire. Their home had been located in the National Forest, and as such, fire insurance was nearly impossible to obtain.
