Ernest Pomareda
Was born in Peru in 1956, he grew up in a house blessed with an impressive
record collection of american music since his parents had studied in the
USA during the fifties. He was part of his school choir directed by Jacob
Chertman for ten years and picked up the guitar at age 14.
By 15 he was playing in his first band with the younger brothers of the "Shains"
a popular peruvian rock band family, those were the early seventies and Blues/Rock
music was the rage.
"I did my first recording in 1971 of a Humble Pie cover" I listened and studied
many recordings from The Allman Bros., Eric Clapton, BB King, Jimmi Hendrix
and Santana" My first electric guitar was a loan from a friend
It was a cherry red ES 335, similar to the one Clapton was playing around that time.
He's been playing those ever since.
"I permanently moved to the USA in 1974 to live with my grandmother in
Florida, here I attended many concerts and formed a band im my high school
with the local rockers. since that time I had branched out in many diffrent directions
musically."
Ernesto Pomareda has recorded the music for the BBC's Columbus and the Age of Discovery documentary series on PBS, and the Soundtrack released by Narada Recordings. Ernesto has played for Earth Day celebrations broadcast worldwide by MTV, as well as having performed at various universities around the United States. He has recorded for the World Health Organization, and performed at the United Nations. On several occasions, Ernesto has hosted Amnesty International's gala presentations in Boston, MA. Now as guitarist and vocals of The Nightcasters Ernesto embarks on another great adventure of musical experimentation. The sounds of the blues and and their jazzy colors is the pallette that I will use" Says Ernesto enthusiastically as he describes what he is doing musically today.
