After the insanity of The Great Directors there were a great many projects that E. Robert Frank could have tackled next. None could have expected a Danzig cover album, but that is exactly what is coming out. Entitled DANCEZIG, it will feature wildly reinterpreted versions of many Glenn Danzig penned classics. To some it will be blasphemous, to others hilarious. CD release on 5/15/07!
1) Steven Spielberg
- a song about being a master of emotional manipulation 2) Roman Polanski
- a song about a criminal who eluded justice 3) David Lynch
- a song about the artifice of mystery and its practitioners 4) George Lucas
- a song about the small failures that can make a man averse to risk 5) Francis Ford Coppola
- a song about a modern day Icarus + a "hidden" track about the destroyer of New Hollywood
First 60 will feature colored CD of one of these four directors: Spielberg, Lucas, Polanski & Coppola
E. Robert Frank has been playing in rock bands since he was in high school. Thus he feels the need to bring the "rock". However, when he was younger still he was submitted to large doses of a Top 40 Pop Station in the late 80s due to a lack of "cultural influence" shall we say. This influence has been unshakable. No matter how much important indie rock he listens to he cannot help but want to sing Peter Cetera songs on occasion. His songs reflect both.
At 18 he formed his first solo project main~stream, which featured Casio keyboards and a guitar in which bass strings had been inserted. It was minor success. Now ten years later he returns to those roots with a even more lo-fi album "The Great Directors" under his Poodleface moniker, inspired by the wonderfully awful sounds of the Casio VL-TONE 1. The album contains nothing but VL-TONE and bass guitar. Is it listenable? Sure! Each song takes a "great director" and warps it through the Poodleface blender... which is to say some songs hardly mention the director at all. Take David Lynch, the song likely playing as you read for example.
Under his real name E. Robert Frank achieved some level of notoriety by appearing on the fourth season of American Idol as one of the New Orleans rejects. Thus any success he achieves now will only pale in comparison to the vast majority of the American public. So be it!

Yeah, it's a nice city. You must have missed a lot being so busy with the auditions. Sowell is great. He writes a lot of articles. Good for those with short attention spans.
It should make you proud that you have a following of 10 year olds singing David Lynch at the top of their lungs in my car. Maybe not the audience you were going for, but you have built a fan base here! I personally enjoy Francis Ford co co Copola! You're makin' wine!!!!
