Influences
"Such were the factors that detached [Ruby Valentine] from the ordinary ties of family life. The ties that strangle us, which we call love. Because of the loosening of these ties he became, with all the attendant pain of such becoming, free.
"But love is what we want, not freedom. Who then is the unluckier man? The beloved, who is given his heart's desire and must for ever after fear its loss, or the free man, with his unlooked-for-liberty, naked and alone between the captive armies of the earth?"
- Salman Rushdie

sounds like roger waters sacrificed trent reznor's balls to one of tori amos's pet pigs in honor of john lennon's feminine intuition ?
The band, Erosian Exile, is named for the Erosian guitarist, Prince Ruby Valentine. Prince Ruby was exiled from Erosia, and the lovestruck Erica Xenne, who could not bear to live without him, followed him into exile. Once she left Erosia, she entered the world as we know it, which Erosians refer to as Dystopia because there is no such thing as magic.
Erica found Ruby in a Dystopian suburb of New York City: Nyack, New York. Ruby was disheveled, disenchanted, a shell of the Prince he once was. Erica often found herself playing piano and singing to express her heatrbreak. She was discovered in the wee hours of the morning by the Dystopian businesswoman Riki Jane while she played piano at a party.
Riki had always dreamed of starting a record company and managing a band, and she saw potential and talent in Erica. Together, the ladies began Riki’s company, Erosia Records.
Riki helped Erica move to Brooklyn and find incredible musicians to play with - first Jon Brand on drums and Oriana on background vocals; later, Steve Goldberg on drums, Brian Bankoff on bass, and Meghan Bridges on background vocals. In various combinations, these musicians formed Erosian Exile.
Their first album, Freedom Broke the Exile’s Heart, began as a musical letter from Erica to Ruby combining songs they once played in Erosia with Erica’s new material, and evolved into a flaming ball of rocknroll madness, thanks to the contributions of the incredible musicians on the album and the renowned engineer, Larry Alexander. The live band is planning to shake the country, and hopefully the world, with their organized rage. The steady members are Brian Bankoff, Steve Goldberg, Meghan Bridges and Erica Xenne.
Prince Ruby is currently living in his Subaru which he parks at random locations on the side of the road in Nyack. He prefers to play guitar in private, but displays his writing and photography on his myspace page and personal website. He boldly declares on his website: “I don’t want to join your band, I don’t want to tour, I don’t want to get signed, I don’t want to get famous, I don’t want to make a difference. I just love to play.” He seranades Erica in private and jams with her, and continues to inspire her songwriting, but thwarts Erica’s pleas to join the band, accusing her of “trapping a song in a cage.”
Erosian Exile recorded their first album with the legendary studio musician, Ira Siegel, who brought Ruby’s ideas to life on the recording. Now, they are on the hunt for a brilliant rock drummer!!!!! DRUMMERS PLEASE CONTACT US!
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and am so glad you dig the tunes. On that last track.. I think what you're talking about is a two guitar part. It's simple actually, what I do is play a high octave A on one guitar and a Gb on another guitar, and on both it slides down to the same note lower on the fretboard before going into that whole dual-harmonized thingy, which in between all that I guess creates that odd sound. God I could talk about this stuff all the time!
