About me:
My name is Richard Savage. I was born in the north of England in 1962. I am a figurative artist who strives to make my art work challenging and thought provoking. My work is diverse and I aim to capture something of the celebration of life in all its wonderful shades. I work from my Cambridgeshire studio, which I open to the public by arrangement.
My background is in illustration, fine art and technical drawing. I work mainly in acrylics, but I am also happy working in oils, pastels, line and wash, watercolour and mixed media. I draw my inspiration from classical art, and the styles of the contemporary artists Boris Vallejo and Jack Vettriano.
My current projects are concentrating on figurative art, for illustrations and book covers, working currently for three American publishing houses.

I also undertake private commissions and most professional work is considered. I have never shied away from provocative topics which include fetish, gothic, gay, lesbian and fantasy.
Much of my private commission work comes from the BDSM world. I have a working knowledge of how the scene operates and it is for this reason that my clients feel comfortable with me working on their project. My clients value their privacy, and it is my job to put them at their ease, while we work on their artwork.
