Formed in early 2005, Errors in Apathy initially went through a year of tumultuous member changes and instrument shifting, eventually settling on its current lineup in August of 2006. Growing up in a scene dominated by hardcore bands, with close friends playing in acts such as The Acacia Strain, never felt quite right to the band. Rather than becoming another strictly hardcore band that would soon be lost in a mass of breakdowns and throaty vocals, Errors in Apathy found their secret weapon in their ability to combine Matt McCormick’s crisp and heart-felt vocals with touches of rock, pop, and hardcore instrumentals. Toss in a variety of speaking, screaming, and growling from the bands guitarist Matt Wright and bassist Joel Singley and listeners will find themselves caught between many of today’s scene boundaries.
The band self-released their first EP titled “The path will not be set; this representation will never hold” in 2006 and worked to play small shows throughout the Northeast. They soon found themselves separated by hundreds of miles while attending different colleges and high school. Even great distances and lack of practice time couldn’t slow Errors in Apathy down though. They completed their first East coast tour during the summer of 2007 while continuing to write new material which was recently captured on a new demo. The new three-song demo, which the band hopes will serve as a precursor to a full length album, finds them far more mature and confident in their sound than on their first EP.
