Escapist are a four piece band out of Melbourne. Mixing their love of rock, blues, jazz and funk, the quartet has ..its own distinctive style and sound. Never ones to fall for trends, the band endeavors to push the envelope and unveil new territory in rock music. Founding member Andy McGarvie (Guitar/Vocals) has changed the line up of the band repeatedly to suit his vision, and has come up with the strongest and most musically intellectual personnel to date. He is joined by the erratic Dave Zito on guitar, the understated yet explosive Edmund (Ned) Holloway on bass and the laid back James Kay on drums. All from the same Melbourne school (class ’04), the four-some’s close musical and personal relationships are shown in their dynamic and good-time live shows. Escapist is definitely a band that will stand out amongst the current crop of rock acts, with an indefinable style that sees all their musical knowledge shoot out in an energetic, exciting and creative fashion, keeping bodies rocking and fans humming their songs all the way home.
Hey guys. This is the new incarnation of the band formally known as Ground Floor. We've finally gotten our act together and put all this music and site up. First Myspace then the world!
Have a listen to some of our new tracks and tell us what you think. We'd love to hear from everyone. We'll be getting out on the Melbourne pub scene, with a possible attack on some rural centres too depending on scheduling issues so keep an eye open for us, don't hate us if we send you a bulletin and give us a bell if you want to gig together because we've had our holidays and are itching to rock the proverbial 'shit' out of some tunes.
Any votes at all will really bump us up the list substantially and maybe even get us noticed by those life-purpose-givers at Triple J. Cheers for the help...we will repay you i promise!!
