Zebulon Whatley and whatever other miserable shits happen to be milling around the shack when he's smitten with the Holy Spirit. The shack is barren at present but honorary shits include Lonesome Wyatt, Seth Fleming, Dad van Ottn, Tamara Cauble, Michael McConnell, and a putrid crawlspace full of other discarded minor characters.

The BIBLE. Poverty. Despair. Life as a gangrenous limb on the body of society. And revenge. Never forget revenge.

"Putting their own original western spin on gothic country music, the Sons have delivered a beautiful brimstone masterpiece with The Kingdom Is On Fire... an absolutely phenomenal album from start to finish."
"It really captures the spookiness and creepiness that hides in the shadows of America's backwaters and forgotten places... [with] moments of really transcendant beauty."
"...a funeral march of depression awash in moonshine, blood and the Bible. Thirteen tracks (how fitting) of the blackest and bleakest country and western tunes moaning about the depths of Hell in the human spirit, sea monsters, and the Civil War."
"...Sons of Perdition take Nick Cave’s blood-ballads to their logical conclusion, with desolate, bone-dry ditties straight off the back porch in some Hills Have Eyes mutant hillbilly nightmare. It’s frankly devastating stuff."
"As black as a crow's feather and twice as stark... There's a looming, archaic quality to "The Kingdom Is On Fire", as if Zebulon and co. were the long-time house band for purgatory." (4 out of 5)
"The Kingdom Is On Fire is crammed with thirteen tales of sweet revenge, suicide, the coming of the lord and the treachery of Satan.... There's just not enough praise you can give this album."
"I spent the morning after... wrestling with the moral questions posed by this album.... Reverend Whatley is a Voltaire of a man, preaching the gospel of the truth."
"Like finding a severed finger in your salsa.... Imagine a mariachi that has just had a lobotomy and now roams the countryside on horseback telling sad tales of death and despair." (CD of the Month)
"The sound is as cryptic and mysterious as the man who made it.... I get the feeling of being lost in some lonesome ghost town, surrounded by extreme, snake handling, religious fanatics that have resorted to cannibalism and other deviant behaviour due to the devout faith and service to the lord."
"The Kingdom is on Fire is one of the best country albums to come out since the Depression era. Zebulon Whatley has pushed the boundaries of what you can do with country music."

On June 24th, after a long hiatus, The Hank in Chains Show returns to the internet airwaves! With a new and improved format, expect a great night of music and commentary on Flapdaddy.com at 9 PM eastern time. This week's show will feature the music of rock and roll pioneer Buddy Holly. Even though he tragically passed away at the age of 22 on "the day that music died", his hard-rockin' style continues to inspire bands and artists to this day.
Artists/bands on this week's show include: Bob Dylan, Jerry Cantrell, Scott H. Biram, Stone Temple Pilots, Raul Malo, The Gaslight Anthem, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Memphis in the Meantime, thenewno2, Hayes Carll, Chuck Mead, Screaming Trees, and Joey Allcorn.
I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of purchase!!!
