Some great bands and great albums:

    Photobucket

    Covenant
    AT
    The Forsaken

METAL! Fav bands: (in no particular order) Napalm Death, The Famine, Death, Kreator, Vader, Armageddon Holocaust Testament, Deeds of Flesh, Moonspell, Zao, Keep of Kalessin, Slechtvalk, Malevolent Creation, Behemoth, Early Mortification, Drottnar, Borkgnagar, Frosthardr, Early Extol, Amorphis, Grave, Samael, Gorguts, Suffocation, Abysmal Dawn, Antestor, Satyricon, Crimson Moonlight, Carcass, Sympathy, Sacrificium and much more real death metal and black, metal. The list could go on forever. But if the bands are on the right side so to speak, that's a plus as opposed to those who's lyrics blabber about angst ridden geigh infantile B.S. There are a few bands who's lyrics I tolerate though I do not enjoy or agree with them. This happens when the music is such a level of quality that it completely envelops the listeners attention in a way that makes the lyrics unnoticed and unimportant, i.e: Necrophagist, Abysmal Dawn,Samael, and others who's music is great, but lyrics are not of any substance in my life.
  • Movies

The Passion Of The Christ, Lord of the Rings, 300, Pan's Labyrinth, Narnia, War Of The Worlds, Alien (entire saga) Star Wars,Transformers....
  • Television

CNN & MSNBC for news, Metalocalypse, Battlestar Galactica, both the classic 1978 - 1980 series, and the newer "reimagined" 2003 - 2008 series. The newer BG lays all other drama and sci-fi to waste. I still enjoy Star Wars, but after what has been achieved with post 2000 era B.G., everything else seems cheesy in comparison. Even though I still enjoy the old school version for nostalgia's sake, it's harder to watch after the bar has been raised so high.

and that's about it when I even watch TV

I love God, I love my family, and I love metal. Please allow me to be straight forward, and please understand with an open mind that I am a Christian, but am not "holier than thou".

I don't believe in forcing my personal spiritual beliefs down anyone's throat, especially when I don't always "practice what I preach" so to speak. So to be honest, I'm not even a very "good Christian" much of the time. (but am working to change that with every new day)

God will knock on the door in your life in many ways, through many people and situations, but he will not enter your life unless he is welcome, and you invite him in on your own accord. So when people decide to be those legalistic Christians that are "Bible thumpers" so to speak, they are doing more harm than good in his name, as they scare more people than they do win souls to God, as they portray Christians in an extreme irrational and fanatical fashion. I guess they did not read their Bibles, because God never instructed us to hang out on downtown street corners yelling at people and attempting to intimidate them with "turn or burn" philosophies. (I dare someone to show me in the Bible where it says to do the insane antics that I see people practicing in downtown Portland and elsewhere) God teaches love, not threats and intimidation, nor forcefull brainwashing tactics.

Now back to "about me" specifically; the deal is, I am a human being, therefore I am full of fault, and hence forthe; yes, I screw up! Too many Christians are judged too often for this. Many people that are not Christians, and especially ones that dislike Christians, wait for us to stumble, and exploit us when we do, because they expect us to be perfect.

Unfortunately most people forget, (Christians included) that if we were so pure and wholesome, and without fault, then we would need no God. And they also forget that he made us creatures of free will, so of course with free choice, bad choices inevitably end up being made at some point by all of us.

Many argue that God does not exist. But the funny thing with that is, almost everyone, (even most atheists) in their most desperate times, especially when in extreme pain or in fear of death, desperately cry out to God.

Yep, even most of the atheists basically pray, and beg God to fix what troubles them in their darkest times, when no thing of this world or other person can help them. So if God is such a far fetched concept, then why is it a natural instinct and something that spontaneosly reaches out from the very essence of our being, to desperately cry out to God when we are in our most dire time of need?

Sadly, for many people, when everything is better and their storm passes, these same individuals never even realize and acknowledge that he is real and did listen, and in fact was the one to bring their relief.

Usually the situation is written off as coincidence or something else, and the individual forgets all about God until he/she is in a desperate situation again.

The good thing is, no matter how much we screw up, and no matter how far we stray away from God, he is always still there when we are ready to believe and trust him, (but only when we do so whole heartedly) and no matter how much we may change, bad or good, he never changes. However if you are just hot and cold and never surrender all of your negative areas of your life, he will stand by until you are 100% with him. I have learned this the hard way.

Now that I've got the spiritual/moral views of mine covered a bit, here's some of the more standard stuff about me:

I have the 3 most amazing and beautiful kids that are the greatest gift that God could ever give.

I used to cuss like a sailor, smoke weed, and drink like a fish, but these days I'm just a regular working class guy/dad with a much more relaxed personality, and a little more appreciation for the simple things in life.

I love to play metal, because I believe it's simply the best music in existence. I like many different types of music, but everyone has a favorite, right? Well mine is metal.

I play bass, and rythym guitar.(bass primarily, especially since I sold my last guitar)

I like to write when I have time, I love the great north western outdoors, and there's probably a few other fairly insignifigant things I could add, but that all pretty much sums it up.

Who I'd like to meet:

My Lord and saviour Jesus Christ!

The Edguy show was pretty good, though not very different from the other two times I've seen them. Only about a hundred people were there, unfortunately.

Hey man, just curious as a believer why you're supporting some ungodly bands on your page that have some pretty bad lyrics like suffocation and Napalm Death which has explict language right on the picture. thats offensive and can cause others to stumble man. Guard your heart, even with what you choose to listen to. We need to be an example to the world by showing we are different and we need to seek to glorify God even in the things we watch and listen to. God cannot be glorified in music that has rebellious, foul, and blasphemous lyrics. I say this with loving concern.

well... good to hear from you. keep pressing on through those trials and give God all the glory man. Hard times come and go but they should only cause us to grow stronger in our walk with Him, being firmly rooted in His truths in His Word. I am well, looking for a new job, Lord willing. Been studying the Word alot more and just enjoying the summer while it lasts.

    Grace and peace in Christ,
    -Jason

Yeah, for sure, man. I should be freed up for a while, so while I am looking for work we definitely should hang out and catch up sometime soon. Just give me a time and place and I will try my best to be there.

And I plan to see G.I. Joe soon. I do want to see that, especially now that I have heard your view of it. Thanks for that. I'm glad you dug it.
  • Aug 12 2009 5:42 AM

So how was GI Joe, Chris? I'm eager to hear your review of it.
