So what is Eskimo I hear you ask? The obvious answer would be....The non “PC” term for an intimate culture of Inuits situated in the North Pole. Hmmm not quite.... Eskimo are a melodic rock group who hail from all areas North and South of beautiful Wales UK. Meet the band..... Llew Davies (Lead Vocal) is based in sunny Llandeilo in South Wales. His first name translated from Welsh to English is the Apt term “Lion.” The gravelled elegance of his voice roars through the tracks with meaning and emotion. Gethin “Bobs” Roberts (Guitar/Vocals) is a true inhabitant of North Wales but he is currently based in Wales’s capital, Cardiff. He pumps out layers of stringed power on electric and acoustic guitar as well as a pure synchronous vocal. Ross Coughlan (Drums) hails from the Amman Valley in Carmarthenshire and is also based in Cardiff. He has a simple yet effective nature of nailing down the groove whilst creating a dynamic pulse through the songs. Richard Vaughan (Piano/Vocals) is also a descendent of the Amman Valley and currently lives in Cardiff. He plays the piano with a warrant of genius authority and provides layers of tactile harmony to the songs. . What is Eskimo’s sound? To encapsulate the sound of Eskimo “Welsh Melodic Rock pop” would come to mind. They forsake the pretentious nature of harping on that “they don't sound like anyone” line and stay true to what they know. Eskimo stand by the religion of four-to-the-floor, powerhouse rhythms, melancholic melodies, and music conviction. How far has Eskimo come? Since the early days of 2006, Eskimo have developed into a solid outfit and are about to embark on a year of live performances and creativity in the studio. The mastermind, who has steered Eskimo to this exciting stage, is the one and only producer, Andrew “Wal” Coughlan. He has dedicated time and passion @ Bridgerow Studios and the fruits of his labour has brought Eskimo live television appearances and radio plays across Wales. LIVE
