"The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children."
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Abuse humiliates
Humiliation makes powerless
Powerless makes Fear
Fear makes Anger
Anger needs Control
Control gives Power
Power corrupts
Corruption engenders Abuse
A vicious cycle through the generations.
Confront original abuse
and feel empowered
feel true power which does not corrupt
makes fear and anger go away
makes you free to choose your actions
makes you free to not need to possess and control
makes you free to let be and love

Esperanza 4 U, a nine-month-old charitable organization founded by two people, is about empowerment. Our mission goes beyond feeding a hungry child. We work to help children in need by providing them with opportunities to help them grow up under humane and nurturing conditions to become productive members in their own communities.
One of our recent projects illustrates this mission: We learned of an orphanage in the hillside outside of Rosarito with inadequate energy supply due to lack of connection to the electricity grid. Considerable sums of church-donated money are spent monthly to run a diesel generator to provide minimum power needs. As a result more donations are needed to provide for food, clothes, and other necessities for some 100 children and staff. Through donations and networking, we have been able to install a solar power system on the grounds of the orphanage effectively making electricity free and freeing up funds otherwise spent on gasoline for the power generator now available to afford living needs.
The downstream effects of this are considerable. Generations of orphaned children will have a more normal upbringing, better education and better opportunities to succeed in their own country. As a fringe benefit, this project also makes a contribution to a cleaner environment and raises awareness of global warming by setting an example to others. The multiplying effect shows the great power that can be exerted by very few people with very little effort other than compassion, initiative, and a call to action.
In the end, the success of this project shows that anyone can have great impact on the improvement of the human cause in this world. First, one must empower oneself by simply recognizing that one’s power to make a difference is much greater than ever imagined because of hang-ups, negative messages, and peer pressures experienced in our lives. The rest will fall into place with shocking ease. We say: “Go ahead! Try it!”
