I am a must add. My name is Esperanza De Muerte. Where do I start? I love pumpkin empanadas, my grandma would make them from scratch. My favorite thing in the whole world is eating them fresh out of the oven and sipping on Abuelita's hot chocolate! As an afternoon snack, I love eating watermelon with lemon and salt. (yummy!) I really love cooking, I guess that is why one of my favorite books is like Water for Chocolate. I love the way Laura Esquivel describes the preparation of the traditional mexican dishes. I was practically raised in my grandmother's kitchen. I love the smell of spices coming together and filling the air with an amazing blend of aromas.

I am named after my grandmother, that is why she always kept me close by. The name Esperanza means hope, my last name is De Muerte which means of death. Many see my name as morbid, when in fact it is poetic and sheer irony. My father died tragically before I was born. His name was Victor De Muerte. My mother experienced a hard labor and at times hoped for death. The nurses asked my mother what she wanted to name me and she said after my grandmother. She did not realize that when her mother's name and my father's last name were combined it would be "hope for death". She just wanted to honor her mother. The ironic part is I was born November 2, right smack on the day of the dead!

My favorite band in the whole world is The Smiths. Although I am not limited to only listening to them. There is something about Morrissey's voice that touches me deep within my soul. I even named my chihuahua Morrissey!
