Movies
MOVIES...too numerous to name... Fanny & Alexander (almost the tale of my childhood! -- scarey), Harold & Maude, Raise the Red Lanterns, Balzac and The Little Chinese Seamstress, many, many Chinese movies, Donnie Darko, Lost in America, Down By Law, other Jim Jarmausch movies, Standing in the Shadows of Motown (documentary on The Funk Brothers), anything with Tom Waits or cameos, like Bram Stoker's Dracula (not a "small" cameo eating those flies!) Fisher King, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, Mississippi Masala, other Mira Nair's movies, High Fidelity, Box of Moonlight, The Usual Suspects, Swimming Pool, Trees Lounge, Lawn Dogs, Barfly, Matchstick Men, Withnail and I, Bringing Out the Dead, Leaving Las Vegas, Brother From Another Planet (! a real sleeper!), Stranger Than Paradise, Cinema Paradiso, The Player, most anything with Sam Rockwell, Deacons for Defense, Welcome to Collinwood, The Grifters, Henry Fool, Raising Arizona, Living in Oblivion, East is East, The Last Supper, Coming to America... & so so many more to be added.....lots of obscure & Indie stuff
Television
Food Network, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Anthony Bourdain: Without Reservations. Old Dean Martin shows, Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny, Cid Caesar, era.... I have more fun on Myspace. It's brought out my long latent creativity --- I'm just learning.... long way to go.... a work in constant, loving the process...
Books
After growing up in a small town with nothing to do but read everything in the library, I mostly read Historical novels -- anything that could take me out of a small town to see the World. Then with my art career I had hundreds of art books on hundreds of subjects. Beautiful things. After that what novels stuck were Lawrence Durrell's Alexandria Quartet.. Justine, Balthazar, Mountolive & Clea, The Mists of Avalon. Then on to hundreds of metaphysical and self-help and self-actualization books. And so few stand out/stay with me from those years.. the whole Carlos Castaneda series (perhaps because of a mentor that I had then too), Shakti Gawain's Living in the Light, Thomas Moore's Care of the Soul, The Mother --Sri Aurobindo, Louise Hay's Heal Your Body. And, most importantly for me, Starseed Transmissions.
I think I was an elephant in a past life. Growing up I used to have dreams that my arms and legs were big and round and heavy & I'd wake up and could barely lift them. Then one day I saw a documentary on elephant families. I saw the baby elephants jumping around and swinging and swinging their little trunks. I was fascinated by how loving the families were and how well they took care of one another. I never had those dreams again. I just felt safe.
Heroes
ALL THE WOMEN WHO WENT BEFORE US. MAY THEIR SOULS BE RESTFUL. We are a FAMILY of Survivors: My Mother is my Hero. She passed of second-hand smoke lung cancer in 1963. I survived a Melanoma in '98 & Breast Cancer 3-years ago. My granddaughter Kaity had a kidney transplant (age 6) AND is a Survivor of a rare form of cancer (age 8). And my daughter Mira is my hero, just because.
AGELESS YET BORN YESTERDAY; Been here many times 'round; Chicago Jazz and Blues in the 60's (can you imagine how fabulous that was?); Colorado 21-yrs; California since 1990, near Jenner By the Sea. A quadruple Aries (Sun/Moon/Venus/Mercury) who needs to be NEAR water but NEVER IN IT (DO NOT PUT OUT MY FIRE!) Grew up in Illinos in a town with two rivers, then 6-yrs in fantastic Chicago! Chicago's Lake Michigan acts like an ocean most times, so Denver nearly killed me with all it's dryness.... now I'm VErrrraa happy in CA living on a river and close to the wild Pacific, AND close to San Francisco.. I'm in little piggy heaven.
Definitely a Foodie! Love to eat out! Have a very discerning palette. SO many years in great restaurants in Chicago & San Francisco.
2-X CANCER SURVIVOR -- MELANOMA (major surgery) & BREAST CANCER. And my 13-yr old granddaughter has survived a very rare form of cancer too -- Burkett's Lymphoma, AND a kidney transplant -- pretty remarkable! We are a family of tough survivors. My mother had one lung removed when I was 8 (SECOND-HAND LUNG CANCER) and a quarter of the other when I was 17... but passed over when I graduated from high school... but that's a long time to survive in those days!! I also have battled bi-polar disorder all my life.
I've been an artist since I knew I was alive. Raised my 2 fabulous daughters on my art for 15-years in Denver. Did huge commissioned hand-woven tapestries for public buildings (banks & lobbies) -- 1978-1985. 38-feet of weaving average, for instance. I transferred my abstract expressionism paintings into tapestries and enlarged them. None exist (in public) any longer as times and taste changes. I do not paint any longer. I got sick of the "Business of Art" (read: galleries and gallery owners). When I ran my own gallery/studio things were different. I no longer want to do that, nor do I have the energy. I've had way more than my 15-minutes of FAME!! Favorite travel: China & Japan.
Happy now just to enjoy tinkering with the sunshine.

UPON THEIR ARRIVAL ZEN INFORMED THE PRECIOUS ONE, OF THEIR PLANS TO FOLLOW HIS STREET OF GOLD, BEYOND THE SEA OF LIGHTS, INTO THE 9TH DIMENSION AND BEYOND!
THE PRECIOUS ONE, CHUCKLED, "THERE IS NOTHING BUT THE VOID BEYOND ME, EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT OR NEED IS ALL WITH WITHIN MY DOMAIN, YET, IF YOU MUST, GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF" HE CONTINUED TO LAUGH" GO AND ENJOY, JUST REMEMBER, EVERY ROAD YOU TAKE WILL ALWAYS LEAD YOU BACK TO ME!"
ZEN AND HER PLANET CONTINUED THEIR TRAVELS FROM UNIVERSE TO UNIVERSE, FOR 1000 YEARS!
ONE MORNING SHE REALIZED SHE WAS TIRED OF HER TRAVELS, AND LONGED TO BE WITH HER PRECIOUS ONE, AND THE VERY NEXT MOMENT SHE FOUND HERSELF BY HIS SIDE, HE SMILED AND SAID, " EVERY ROAD LEAD YOU BACK TO ME!"
