    ESSENTIAL 2009 Saturday 25 April 2009 (Anzac Day) hits the Oxford Street Strip ! PRESENTED BY SELECT MUSIC Essential 2009 is a unique music event based around showcasing the most talented Australian artists. It is the place to be if you want to check out the next wave of Australias hottest bright young things - all of whom promoter Select Music has been championing for the past 12 months and well beyond. Attendance continues to climb & the Essential was also nominated for 'Best Music Event' at the 2008 SMAC Awards. Since the first event crowds have been presented with a virtual whos who of whats hot now. Acts like Midnight, Juggernauts, Dappled Cities, Expatriate, Bluejuice, Children Collide, Old Man River, The John Steel Singers, Cassette Kids and Young & Restless have performed over the past years at Essential and gone on to bigger and better things. In its first 3 years Essential called Surry Hills, in particular Devonshire Street home. Essential’s unique edge was that it was set over 3 stages and 3 venues side by side on Surry Hills Devonshire Street - The Gaelic Theatre, Four Provinces (The Gaelic Club upstairs space) and The Madison Hotel. Demand has meant a venue change for Sydney in 2009... Essential 2009 will be held for the first time on Oxford Street, spread across five rooms: Oxford Art Factory, Spectrum, 34B, Vegas Bar and QBar, which means different environments and more musical styles can be presented then at previous Essential’s.
