ESTAMPIE wurde 1985 von Sigrid Hausen, Ernst Schwindl und Michael Popp gegründet. Die Gruppe hat bis heute 10 CDs und eine DVD veröffentlicht und entwickelte sich zu einem international bedeutenden Vertreter der MUSIK DES MITTELALTERS. Das Ensemble konzertierte im In-und Ausland und wirkte bei zahlreichen Rundfunk- und Fernsehaufnahmen mit. Darüber hinaus beteiligte sich ESTAMPIE an genreübergreifenden Produktionen mit Tanz, Theater und Performance. Im Laufe der Jahre wirkten insgesamt mehr als 60 Musiker mit verschiedensten musikalischem Background aus allen Kontinenten in der Gruppe mit. Aktuell konzertiert das Kernensemble in neuer Besetzung, daneben gibt es die beiden Kooperationen "Al Andaluz" (mit Musikern aus Spanien und Marokko), sowie "Marco Polo" (mit mongolischen Musikern).

They have performed world wide and have appeared on numerous Radio and Television Programs. Moreover, ESTAMPIE has transcended over numerous genres including Dance, Theater, and Performance. Throughout the years, the group has been ever evolving, involving over 60 musicians from different musical and cultural backgrounds. ESTAMPIE performs currently with their core ensemble, performing various selections from their standard repertoire as well as with two other cooperative projects: "Al Andaluz" (with musicians from Spain and Marocco) and "Marco Polo" (with musicians from Mongolia).
