To tell you a little bit about myself musically, I started singing as a child. My brother begged my mom to make me stop, but luckily for me, she didn't. During high school, my mom contacted a man named Roger to teach me voice lessons. He was not accepting any new students, but she asked him to listen to me just once. Roger accepted me into his studio and was a very caring teacher. After studying with him for 2 years, Roger died of AIDS when I was 17. It was devastating to me, because no one told me that he was sick or close to dying. He taught me that it was more important to sing beautifully than to try to sing loud. I still remember that.
As high school ended, I knew I wanted to continue studying voice. I met Ms. Monroe at a State Solo & Ensemble Competition. She offered to have me sing in her studio and I was very excited. I knew she was one of the best college voice teachers. I attended The University of South Florida in Tampa and majored in Music Education with an Emphasis in Voice. Ms. Monroe is still very special to me. Those were some of the best years of my life.
Before graduating, I went through the "Record Deal" process. I had the body guard and the single and the photo shoots. I learned a whole lot about what you have to go through to get a radio station to play your song. ......Very interesting, you'll have to ask me about it some day. What I realized is that some people are so desperate to get a deal that they will sign anything. I guess I was just not that desperate. I feel that my creativity and my talents are worth more. I would love a record deal, but it would be important to be in the hands of the right person. I have written a lot of songs and have sold one, which was pretty exciting. I bought my piano with the money I made.
Currently, I am writing songs, doing as much musical theatre as possible and learning about acting.
You've come a long way since I first met you Esther. And just wanted to say Congrats. I remember the first time I met you was over in Tampa at a little meet with Just Plain Folks with Jerry and Al and a few others in that little Bar. It wasen't Ricks but another place. Anyway, I remember you taking that little stage, and I was blown away from the time you sang your first note. My daughters and then wife, now ex. went crazy over your voice. My youngest said you sounded like an angel that your voice was that pretty. And now, Look Atcha. You have become wonderfully sucessful and I just wanted to come by and say Congrats and also say the best of luck to you in your future. And hope someday, I will be able to get out and listen to you sing again. Take care and will drop by again sometime to say hello. I stopped singing myself and am now a full time Pro Photographer. If you ever need any work, feel free to drop me a line here.
Best To You Always, Jeffery Bennett Beach Bum Photography
