When this four piece funk-rock-jamboree began the band effortlessly formed an expansive repertoire of soulful tunes, some with arrangements but most without. Over time the songs began to establish set arrangements, but the band has chosen to not lose touch with what brought them together in the first place. They continue to frequently roll the musical dice on stage keeping each of their live performances exciting & fresh.
The band's debut CD release was launched in December of 2002, the self-titled album has since received airplay on Triple J & Triple R, particularly the popular, upbeat love-song: "Boobs".
2005 & 2006 have seen Ethanol make inroads into Melbourne's live music scene. They've now performed at numerous venues in Fitzroy, Brunswick & Chinatown in addition to headlining a five-band show in the Gershwin Room of The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda... on each occasion, Ethanol's brand of funk-rock mayhem has been received with open arms by Melbourne's punters.
Ethanol also made their debut appearance at the Apollo Bay Music Festival in April of 2006 & were hailed by punters & Festival MCs alike as the hottest newcomers to the festival in many years.
Since launching their 2nd CD "Out of the Red" in March 2007, Ethanol made a big splash when they debuted at the Queenscliff Music Festival in November 2007. They also wowed the audience at the Sydney Rd Street Party (as part of the Brunswick Music Festival) in February 2008, where Melbourne based guitar-king Shannon Bourne observed: "...Definately the most rocking band that day!"
The band also continues to travel to other regional centers to perform & will keep recording their tunes for those who continue to plead with them for another album. Above all, the members of Ethanol pledge to keep spreading their brand of Groove/Rock far & wide.
