Ethel and Doreen's Blurbs |
About me:
My name is Doreen Jeffries. Myself and my good friend Ethel Dyson thought that it was high time that we caught up with all of the technological developments that have occurred since the war so we enrolled on the OAP Computing course that was running at our local library on tuesday afternoons. These days, Tuesdays are our only free time, with Mothers' Union commitments taking up almost the full weekends and Monday evenings, Bingo on thurday night, Women's Hiking, Orienteering and Rambling Enthusiasts Society (W.H.O.R.E.S) taking up all of Monday, Society of Horticultural Interests and Trends (S.H.I.T) taking up tuesday mornings, Women's Association of Needlework and Knitting (W.A.N.K) on Wednesdays, Union of Thread Work And Tapestry (U.T.W.A.T) on Thursdays and planning for the Organisation of Rhododendron Growers' Annual Social Meeting (O.R.G.A.S.M) in full swing every friday.
Being 79 and 82 respectively, it did take a little while for us to catch on to how to operate these machines but with a little help from the grandchildren we managed it in the end. So now we have our own email address (ethelanddoreen@hotmail.com), our own website (www.freewebs.com/ethelanddoreen) and our own MySpace account (www.myspace.com/ethelanddoreen). Please feel free to drop us a quick message every now and again. Since Iris and Nora died in '83 we've been a little lonely. We would try to get out to more social events but unfortunately our hips aren't what they used to be and leaving the house is becoming increasingly difficult, particularly as winter is fast approaching and Ethel has a terrible fear of the paths being icy. Please excuse any typing errors dears as you must understand that we're not as young as we used to be and arthritis make it a little difficult to be too accurate. It's particularly difficult for Ethel as she only has 6 fingers, having lost a couple in that unfortunate stairlift incident a few years ago.
Anyway dears, must dash as we've a Association of Regional Sewers and Embroiderers (A.R.S.E) meeting to go to and Margaret Hutchinson will complain if we're late.
TTFN.
