"From the waters above to the waters below..." Far from the glop and gloom of the 3D world you think you're supposed to see.. you are cordially invited to Ether Park, a place where people speak their minds, treat each other right, and try to have a good time, all the time.
The musical facts:
Singer/songwriter Sue Bachner creates her own particular type of pop songs and tries to sing them as often as possible. Al Katkowsky adds some powerful and creative guitar work. A tight rhythm section completes the sound.
Ether Park's debut single (Willing to Lose" b/w "Trying" released on the band's own Wally Ballou label) got widespread college airplay. The single made top thirty, top twenty, and top ten lists at several schools in both the U.S. and Canada.
That success was followed up with the release of a holiday CD, "Ether Park and Friends Visit the Island of Misfit Toys", an E.P. of unique alternative covers of tunes from holiday TV shows such as "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". The CD charted heavily, staying at ..1 at WPNR, Utica College in New York for several weeks. Ether Park has done several holiday benefit shows with the the "Toys" songs, including one for Windows of Hope.
Next in 2004, came the self titled Ether Park EP. A full album of original material will follow soon.
Ether Park has played several colleges in the Northeast, and many venues in NYC, including Arlene Grocery, the Mercury Lounge, and Webster Hall. Music conferences and festivals played include the Philadelphia Music Conference, the Digital Club Fest, the St. Patricks Day Viper Ball, and the Irish Expo. They have also played at the Kendall Cafe in Boston, a stage that has been visited by Jason Faulkner and Elvis Costello.
Ether Park made its independent label debut as part of the CD compilation A Low Watt Document- Ingenious Diversions on the Shut Eye Records Label of Atlanta.
From some reviews:
Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter (Industry Edition): Ether Park delivers female-fronted, guitar driven, radio friendly mainstream alternative rock.... hooks had me singing along with the choruses by just the third listen.
Shake It Up E-Zine singles out: ...the charging Wheres Jeffrey and the pure pop Wish I Could Wish You Well (which is the big winner here!)
Crash Zero E-Zine: In a world of alternative clutter that has lost its direction, its refreshing to hear something totally new.
Cake Magazine: Crafty, confident, and more than a little clever pop music... This is smart work. Is Top-40 radio ready for Ether Park? Probably not, but you should be.
I just stopped by to let you know I posted two news songs that I wrote on my page yesterday. Please come by and listen to them. The first song "The Waiting Song" is for everyone who has a loved one overseas and the second song "Dance with Me" was inspired by a rumba I watched on Dancing with the Stars last year.
Let me know what you think.
IRENE
P.S. The great Rique Pantoja is playing piano on both of these songs and Grammy Award Winning Scott Martin is on saxophone.
The Craic Festival 2009 has invited FairplayCollective to play at this years Festival. All members will be playing in the round. The show is at The Mercury Lounge, March 14th at 8pm. This is the last night of the festival and Foy Vance is also on the bill.
What more can I say, a great night for music and film, with the odd star thrown in. Come show your support.

I pray to buddha that in the coming years intelligent discussion and dissenting opinions will not be smeared as “fag talk” by the theocratic thugs in this country Sue; but sadly our questioning of their propaganda will always make us elitist communist france-loving homos. I do however find some hope in the American people after their overwhelming rejection of the same old tired reactionary platforms put forth by the gop this year- it’s kinda funny; widespread poverty, unemployment, our illusionary economy imploding while we funnel all our tax dollars to clandestine war-profiteers, and the best they got is: “We’re gonna ban gay marriage, you betcha!!”. Ooooohhh god bless!!
