    Ether Switch was formed somewhere between late March and early April 2005. Although it all started out innocently enough, vocalist/guitarist Doug Bleek, driven to the brink of sanity by the decadent state of contemporary alternative music, has taken it upon himself to dismantle--kamikaze-style--the indie culture that stirs within him so much detest and resentment. Eddie C., figuring it's best not to intervene between a man and his grudges, has to this day turned a blind eye to Bleek's antics, in name of someday making it rich and living the good life.

     Lacking trust in humankind, Doug and Eddie fashioned their rhythm section out of circuits and steel, cold to the touch, and lovingly dubbed it Pele. And there you have it: super-distorted guitars, bombastic drumming, and that oh-so-trendy electronic component--what else could you ask for? Unfortunately, it seems like everyone nowadays belongs to some synth-rock duo or another...but that doesn't bother Ether Switch; they remain assured of their superiority over the competition.

    With the release of their sophomore album, Elegy, Ether Switch has made great strides in their (petty) mission. The album is meticulously-layered, the epitome of D.I.Y. aesthetics, and damn-cool to boot. Totally worth the ten dollars.
