I’d like to claim Lennon and Syd Barrett, but it’s probably more like Paul McCartney and David Gilmour. Other English white boys like Bowie, Jimmy Page and Townshend. Mix in a little Prince and some Shuggie Otis, and some string pullers like Davey Graham, Nick Drake and John Fahey. My pop sweet tooth comes from early Police and 80’s R&B. Can’t forget my homies and local faves the Moore Brothers for their incalculable effect on me.
Neye Benziyor?
I've heard Tim Buckley, Jeff Buckley, Prince, Beck, Rufus Wainright, and Elliot Smith. Not my words mind you. Varies greatly on what show you see.
Raised in Tuscaloosa Alabama by French professors. Came out to Berkeley to study Physics, dropped out to play African drums and record songs on my 4 track. Started a garage band called C.O.B., then went solo and somehow started playing with some of the Bay Area's most lauded musicians. Hooked up with producer Dan Prothero and worked long and hard on my debut album.
What a timeless collection of songs. It's still my go to album to show people something they haven't heard yet. Would love to see you perform or better yet jam with you one day. Maybe I might have to wait till the next existence(I'm hoping that's not the case). Pete Lewis.
standing in the dock at Southampton, Trying to get to Holland or France. The man in the mac said, "You've got to go back". You know they didn't even give us a chance.
Christ you know it ain't easy, You know how hard it can be. The way things are going They're gonna crucify me.
Finally made the plane into Paris, Honey mooning down by the Seine. Peter Brown called to say, "You can make it O.K., You can get married in Gibraltar, near Spain".
Christ you know it ain't easy, You know how hard it can be. The way things are going They're gonna crucify me.
Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton, Talking in our beds for a week. The newspaper said, "Say what you doing in bed?" I said, "We're only trying to get us some peace".
Christ you know it ain't easy, You know how hard it can be. The way things are going They're gonna crucify me.
Saving up your money for a rainy day, Giving all your clothes to charity. Last night the wife said, "Oh boy, when you're dead You don't take nothing with you But your soul - think!"
Made a lightning trip to Vienna, eating chocolate cake in a bag. The newspaper said, "She's gone to his head, They look just like two gurus in drag".
I am awfully sorry to massmail you here, but figured this one is worth it.
In brief, I have a new album coming out in the EU later this month. It's called Off Track Betting. It's available in UK stores Feb 25th via reveal records and in the benelux via Lucky Dice.
I'll also be doing a brief tour of the UK in early march if you're in that neck of the woods. ( Including a session with BBC2's Bob Harris). check website & myspace for dates/places. And another in the fall over that way.
I will probably be following this note with another, sometime in the next few months, regarding the US release, and subsequent US touring. Details to follow as they fall into place..like the odd snowflakes billowing around this intermittently sunny day in nyc.
