Sounds Like
Cul De Sac, Pell Mell, Kinski, Love Tractor, Polvo, mellifluous ribbon rock, rural Northern California, underlit canyons, gravity hill, coastal inversion layers, Po Mo canyon trail, mirrored ponds, still air, late night drives to and from Bodega Bay, San Francisco fog and mist, various wolverines and tiger types.
Among Eucalyptus’ most noted songs there is the classic, endless, show favorite, psych rock, slow burner ‘Surfacing’, the loopy, meandering and repetitive ‘Nooks ‘n Crannies’, the Eastern influenced ‘Bibelot’, and the static stop start nonsense of ‘Maturity Mismatch’. The band rarely plays recorded favorite ‘Rico & His Boys’ live, nor do they typically play encores.
I like title Gamma Basement. Reminds me of Radon scares in basements of houses of New Jersey. (Naturally occurring but poisonous gas only found in that area of the world. )
"Vienna" -- I'm lovin' it. Straightforward, simple, and sad. As it should be. Who's that guy fucking up the Eucalyptus sound on "Gamma Basement"? That which hath been recorded on the Texas Instruments tape recorder should not be too -- how you say? -- fucked with. I'm barely alive myself! How do ya do? Nice ta meet cha! When Eucalyptus gone play northern CA again? I'm waiting, twisting my applebag in the interim..
Put 'Surfacing' and 'Granny's Nooks & Crannies' on yr MySpace, you silly drunken fools. Those songs especially rock the ol' mind. I'm talkin Schuyler's Farfisa wiring problem, Adam leaning against a post hallucinating from mononucleosis, easy Todd Lay go easy, it's too late, say what Todd? mumbling Isss toooo late.
Listened to a version of "Surfacing" that Schuyler put on a mixed tape. It was a slow, epic-sounding, very long version. The soundtrack to an apocalypse. Plague of locusts darkening the sky. Pandemic. Mushroom cloud. Ice age. Good things of that nature. I call it "Surfacing (All Day Sunday Baptist Hallelujah Version)".
Joe, some nice drumming on Aztec Pyramus. Early Floydian. That song was Euca-delic. Short & sweet but I still ventured dangerously close to the Zone That Only Eucalyptus Can Put Me In. Well done, gents. Now release some more music, you fucking slackers.
Pretty funny The Rum Diary says "gay surf beat" when they live in or damn near both a gay capital and the pounding surf of the Pacific. San Franciscbro.
a sloppy oiler sandwich from rural north New Jersey. ham & cheese and extra oil & vinegar. got my plumbing working overtime, it did. all lubed up and no place to go.
The newly-added songs are great. Good job, boys. I put 'em on a mixtape also featuring Population Reduction, Neanderthal, Willard's Canteen, and the Howling Monkey energy drink theme song, among others. Joe, yer 16-beat on the ol' hi-hat on Duncan's Mills is awesome.
