All the best stuff, and some of the worst. Righteous pop with skyscraper choruses, urgent snot-fuelled punk, riotous rock with beefy riffs and beery tiffs, socio-political acoustic songsmithery, widescreen piano ballads, and the theme tune to Ronnie Corbett's 80s sitcom 'Sorry'.

There's a load more reviews and such HERE. But for now...
'DO OR DIE' ALBUM REVIEWS
'power-pop perfection - a dazzling debut - 4/5' - The Sun
'a collection of chewy centred pop nuggets' - Kerrang!
'a collision of Jellyfish, QOTSA and The Who... brilliant vocal harmonies and power pop stomp - 7/10' - Classic Rock
'it's like being at the pub with the jukebox playing all the songs you know... it's good; real good' - Sandman Magazine
LEEDS/READING FESTIVAL 2008 REVIEWS
'head and shoulders above the pack in terms of style, substance and festival punter appeal' - Vibrations Magazine
'it’s hard to imagine a better opening act. It's rock and roll in the fullest sense, the original recipe with a kick in every bottle... a fine bravura performance' - Whisperin' And Hollerin'
'as sharp as their threads, splicing rock and pop effortlessly whilst remembering the cardinal rule of rock: entertain! In short, Chris Catalyst and company set the bar incredibly high for the Introducing stage' - www.sandmanmagazine.co.uk
'Between songs Chris Catalyst gently mocks the Festival clichés with the good grace of a rock and roll addict who loves it all, and has done most of it. None of the bands that followed would have done themselves any harm at by watching this band leader showing how to work a stage and connect with a crowd... the man is a star and his mates in the band are more than wiling (and very able) to reinforce the image with rock solid performances in each department' - Sam Saunders, www.leedsmusicscene.co.uk
OTHER LIVE REVIEWS:
'Eureka Machines fuse classic
rock and roll with a punk spirit. It’s
not directionless thrash though;
these are carefully crafted chunks of
serotonin-laced exuberance designed
to create a hedonistic party
atmosphere. Suffice to say they
succeed comfortably. If the UK
needed its own version of Rocket
From The Crypt, then we need look
no further' - Sam Shepherd, Night Shift, Oxford
'with their frankly incredible live shows and one remarkable album already under their belts, it would almost be a travesty for Eureka Machines to not become the biggest band in the world as well' - www.themusicmagazine.co.uk
'a fine stripped-down set - 8/10' - Paul Raggity, Rock Sound Magazine, April 2008
'it's chuffing marvellous. a bit power pop QOTSA, Mansun, and late 80s power pop. a nice Soulwax feel to it… it's all good’ – Dan Morfitt, Kerrang! Radio, April 2008
'the younger members of the audience shuffle forward to catch sight of acoustic duo Eureka Machines, who look like punk rock sales reps, but their effortless twin harmonies quickly make up for their dubiously contrived sharp-shirted appearance' - Rob Bealey, Kerrang! Magazine, Issue 1203
‘close harmonies, barbed riffs and crowd repartee you only get from years honing your art, taking it seriously but never forgetting that it’s supposed to be fun… and an effortless ability to write catchy songs’ – Rob Wright, Sandman Magazine, March 2008
Eureka Machines are a Leeds-based rock/punk/pop band, who have played all over the UK with bands like The Wildhearts, Forward Russia and The Rascals. We opened the BBC Introducing Stage at the Reading and Leeds Festivals 2008, too. So that's why you pay your licence fee.
We released our debut album Do Or Die (Wrath Records, WRATHCD48) on September 1st 2008 and got some nice press, which you can see down there on the left. Our favourite was the one in The Sun which called us 'power pop perfection'. The one that made us saddest was the one that said 'Eureka Machines are here to rock (in the lightest sense)', somewhere on the internet. Oh well.
We are DIY in the general sense of the term (our old bassist Steve runs the label, Chris books the gigs, Dave cuts out flyers and Wayne makes the tea... we're working on a job for Pete), but we have lots of mates who help us out, generally for nothing. (Big ta to Damian Tichborne for the website, Matt Reid at Lonely Hearts for design and artwork, and Gav for helping us get some nice gigs.) But we also have aspirations beyond playing to our mates in backrooms of dodgy pubs in Whereverthefuck. Ethics, DIY, punk rock and Sticking It To The Man is all good, but how can you get a message out there by only playing to each other?
We wear the suits because it makes us feel good. Every gig for us is an occasion. You wouldn't get married in your shorts, would you? Well, you might, but we wouldn't.

Please watch these and leave a nice comment if you can.
Here's an interview we did with Alastair from Underkill TV, who was nice.
Here's our second video from the album. It's called Being Good Is Okay, But Being Better's Better (out in September 2009 on a free download, backed up with all-new song Living In Squalor), and it's directed by the marvellous Paul Morricone at Poison Pen Films:
Here's the first video from the album - the forthcoming single Everyone Loves You (out in April 2009), by those fine folk at AshTV:
Here's a live video, filmed at Unity Day in Hyde Park, Leeds, also by the very lovely people at AshTV.
The Story Of My Life:
And finally, here's the soon-to-be-legendary one-off edition of Cribs filmed at Chris Catalyst's house again for AshTV... featuring Eureka Machines action from the studio, fridge, palatial gardens and some hot tub activity which might just give you twitchy nightmares for years to come. Sit back, relax, and most of all enjoy.
There's a bunch more videos on the, er, video page of our website.
We use Ibanez, Gibson and Fender guitars, Rotosound strings, Marshall, Blackstar and Peavey amplification, Ludwig drums, Paiste cymbals, Zildjian sticks and our outrageously lovely footwear come from TUK shoes. Thank you.
SOME FLYERS AND POSTERS FOR GIGS WE'RE DOING
*** CLICK THE POSTER TO BUY TICKETS ***
LAIKA DOG ... Featuring Terrorvision frontman TONY WRIGHT the band was formed on a high Yorkshire moor top. Tony, Paddy and Sim were building dry stone walls and thought it would be a good idea and a warmer past time to form a band and play the tunes they had been inspired to write. Met up with Parry a week later and got the band started. Tony - still a waller Paddy- joiner Sim - electrician Parry- labourer. Even if you don't like the tunes they're handy to have around.
Eureka Machines ... A collision of riotous rock, punk energy and orchestrated heavy metal guitars welded to solid vocals, a regiment full of harmonies and the pummelling power of bass and guitars with no gimmicks, no intellectual pretension, just straightforward, head for the central nervous system guitar pop
The Rocket Dolls ... barbed wire chewing, razor blade spitting three-piece post-grunge riff-metal outfit
Skeleton Crew ... The fusion of classic British rock in bands such as Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Thunder with the unmistakable AOR/glam sounds of Guns N Roses, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi

Just wanted to say thanks so much for the awesome show last night! You guys were AMAZING as ever, and it was a pleasure to share the stage with you again. The new songs are ace!
Hope you had fun :)
See you at the Electric Six show in Birmingham. Should be a fun evening :)
Glad to hear it. We're touring in December too, hopefully we'll cross paths somewhere and ruin our days off with excessive boozing. Good luck with recording. We're settling down to write album number 2 in the new year. Gasp.
Had a great time on Saturday. You were ace. I wandered out to see who was playing and ended up watching with a huge smile on my face. Loved the music. Loved the clothes. Loved the shoes. Loved the Pete Townsend jumps. Basically loved everything! Hope to see you again soon. Cheers. Gill x
Awesome set guys, great chatting to you during the evening, the cd rocks. You have a unique stage performance, look, sound, the interaction with the audience is fantastic. I shall be seeing again I hope. Keep on Rockin'
Thanks for making Saturday such a killer gig guys, we had a great time playing with you. Oh and thanks for letting us use yer gear also! I'll be seeing you at the Electric Six gig that I understand you're supporting at soon. Hope to play with you again some time in the future! Mat - ANX
I hear Laika Dog have pulled out of the gig at the Marr's Bar. Shame but then if truth be known I was only really going to see you guys anyway.
Laika Dog are from my hometown of Keighley so it would have been good to see them too but never mind.
Hoping to get along to the JB's gig too. Seen El Diablo supporting The Damned there a couple of times and they are pretty good so that should be a top night.
In Wyrd Ways Rock Show LXIV you can hear the interview I did with Anders Bjöler of The Haunted and At The Gates. As is the custom, he also provides this week’s Lie Back And Enjoy It.
