Euro Dance and Euro Trance, are two of the few major hits in Singapore. Euro Dance didn’t start off as it was; it has been through many sub-genres changes to come to this term call "Euro Dance".
It began in the genre called House and along the 70’s, 80’s and till 90’s it evolved to become Euro Dance. Euro Dance’s era began in the mid-90, where disco are becoming a popular sign among youngsters. Euro Dance is spreading like fire in tea-dances and discos around the world. Euro Dance consist of vocal, rap and awesome melodies that will follow wherever the listeners goes.
Upon hearing Euro Dance songs, the main powerful vocals are usually sang by females and rhythmical rapping are done by males. Euro Dance has a strong bass rhythm ranges from 95 BPM to 150 BPM (Beats Per Min).
The combination of rich meaningful vocals and catchy melodies make Euro Dance tracks easy to attract listeners and fill the dance floors. It has been through many ups and down along the years.
Euro Trance evolved itself from Trance. Euro Trance and Trance main different is that Trance are mainly repetitively and hypnotic. But Euro Trance consists of more vocal but it incorporates Trance into the song.
Trance began at a early stage of 70’s, it was called Italo then likewise with Euro Dance. It had many genres and slowly evolved to Euro Trance in the 21 century. Though Trance wasn’t as popular for fans of Euro Trance, but artist like Paul Van Dyke still manage to grab the listeners hearts. Like Masterboy, Paul Van Dyke is still popular at the moment with their constant release of new Trance.
Euro Trance now as the new popular genre, Groove Coverage is one group that manages to make it big. They started off by singing covers of artists and over a short period of time wining many people hearts. With Groove Coverage taking the first step, many artists followed their footsteps and making it big with their talent in Euro Trance.
Another trance genre, Euro Progressive is also considered as Progressive trance, it tends to has less commercial edge and slower beats. It ranges from 130 - 140 BPM with usage of tribal techno and breakbeat.
“Classic” 90s Eurodance as stated comes from the 1990s era or you can call it the 1st generation of Eurodance . It consists of combo female chorus together with male rap performances. Its synths are more catchy and bassline unique because it is slightly slower than most Eurodance that appeared afterward. Some examples of these original Eurodance acts are :- Captain Hollywood Project, Dr. Alban, Cappella, Culture Beat, Jam & Spoon, E-Type, MAXX, La Bouche, Pharao (music), Real McCoy, Captain Jack, Ice MC, Fun Factory, 2 Unlimited, Alexia (Italian singer), Masterboy, Mr. President, Basic Element, and Snap!.
Music takes a lot of transformation along the years and different genres will have its ups and down.
But ups or down, there will be always a group of listeners to standby and support what they love.
