We arrive at truth through the application of faith and reason, which are like "two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth" (John Paul II, Fides Et Ratio).
Currently my favorite band is a Catholic Christian rock
band -
Backyard Galaxy - Great Music and inspring
lyrics. In the mid to late 1990's I really enjoyed listening to
Rich
Mullins A great thinker and a brilliant song writer. His song,
Awesome God is still a favorite of mine and my children.
My favorite band in High
School was
Oingo Boingo
for the official web site
Click
HereAnd I still like to listen to them from time to time.
When I was in High School, I liked to listen to
Frank Zappa he was a great musician, but most of his
songs were about pure crap - catchy lyrics, but pure crap. However, his
song "I'm the
Slime" oozing out of your TV set -
is right on. Although far from being a tool for the government, it has become a
complete propaganda machine for the agendas of the socialistic elite in America.
Movies
It's a Wonderul Life Man without a face Braveheart Man on Fire I just added Mercury Rising to my list. ANy film where Alec Baldwin gets shot in the Chest and falls from a sky scapper to his death at the end cannot be a bad film. Yes, I know it isn't very "Christian" of me, but indulge me on this one, especially after him stating the grotesque manner in which he would like to kill Fr. Frank Pavone
Answering the New Atheism" This is a great book refuting Richard Dawkin's book the God delusion, who in Ben Stein's "Expelled" admits the basic life form, the cell, couldn't have developed on it's own and required some sort of "Intelligent Designer" as long as it wasn't "God". He believes it was "an advanced race that "seeded" the universe" - folks - we're talking aliens here and he thinks I'm insane because I believe in God?
Evelyn Waugh presented his biography of St. Edmund Campion, the Elizabethan poet, scholar and gentleman who became
the haunted, trapped and murdered priest as “a simple, perfectly true story of heroism and holiness.”
Hi, My name is Scott. I was born and raised in Palmdale, CA. Knowing I wasn't ready for college - I didn't have the grades nor the money - I enlisted the Air Force during my Senior year of High School. It was a very good decision, I was able to receive good technical training, college (USAF- paid for classes), and an education college could not provide; I lived in Korea, Puerto Rico, and Panama. I considered making it a career, but decided it was not right for me, although now that many of my friends are "retired" and starting a second career - one wonders if I made the right decision. Before I got out of the Air Force I sent resumes to over 65 companies. Among others, I received an offer for a position at Ericsson, a Swedish Telecommunications company, as an Installation Test Engineer - testing Class 5 computerized telephone exchanges for the different RBOCs and wireless (Cellular) providers. I have lived and worked in Sweden, Holland, and the UK while working at Ericsson. Want to talk about the Pros and Cons of National Health Care? In 1996 I was offered the opportunity to work in Guildford, Surrey, England for a year where I met my wonderful wife Michelle . Much of my youth was misspent - I'm trying to make up for that now. See my homepage for more photos of me and my family.
Who I'd like to meet:
Dr. Scott Hahn I met him briefly in 1996 during the Catholic Evangelization Weekend in Dallas, TX.
