Through skillful guitar playing, confessional lyrics, and a sweet yet throaty, rippling voice, Eva Castillo has managed to quickly emerge on the music scene. For four years she has produced unique high energy acoustic pop, driven by deep funk inspired rhythms. Eva’s simple and poignant guitar work accompanies her true instrument, a deceptively big voice that flows from her delicate frame.
While studying architecture at the University of Maryland in 2003, a friend of Eva’s persuaded her to write songs of her own, after seeing her play around with a guitar and singing to a pop cover. Eva then realized the potential of her talent when she won an Open Mic competition in 2004 with her own original music. She won free studio time, which she used to record her first album, Day By Day, which is now available through iTunes.
Eva not only established herself quickly on the DC/Baltimore music scene,, but also makes her way around the country to cities such as Chicago, NYC, Nashville, Boston, San Diego and Los Angeles. In just 2 years of playing live shows, Eva has managed to share the stage with an eclectic mix of successful artist. From musicians considered one of America’s biggest musical icon’s, Bob Weir, to Grammy nominated artist Ryan Shaw, Tift Merrit, Michelle Malone, to some of today’s popular national acts such as Moe., Spearhead, Les Claypool, Eric Hutchinson, Keller Williams, Soulive, Michael Tolcher, Grace Potter, and many, many more.
Eva’s most striking characteristic is her unrestrained warmth and affection. Her smile and gladdening sense of humor lifts an audience up as easily as her music. Eva’s music is insistent, infectious, and enchantingly innocent.
