Evan Darst is a songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. Raised in a southern Ohio county, relocated to the small midwestern city that is home to Merit Badge Records, and now finding a home in Chicago, Illinois, his songs take on common themes of travel and movement. Nothing is nailed into place, all is fluid and never quite ready to put down roots. Evan's songs play on broad aspects of everyday life, from love to loss to hope. Kime Holderman, his first release, is composed of 8 tracks that pull from influences such as Red House Painters, Owen, and Elliott Smith. Songs that, at first, may seem cold and distant, but upon repeated listens convey hope and familiarity through Darst's passionate lyrics, like an old friend sitting you down to catch up after years of separation. No matter your locale or background, a kid from a small southern town or a burgeoning metropolis, Evan Darst writes songs that will wrap their warm, tiny fingers around your heart and never let go.
