THIS IS THE SHOW THAT L.A. IS BUZZING ABOUT! DO NOT MISS IT!

P.S. AS ALWAYS, FREE HAM SANDWICHES FOR EVERYONE!

_____________________________________________________________

"Q. What would one come to expect at a Translucent Ham Sandwich show?

A. One would come to expect the completely unexpected. This circus type fiasco comes equipped with a full length original feature film which the band performs to as well as an onslaught of a dozen musicians (with Stone at the helm on his drum throne), belly dancers, magicians, poets and jugglers. Special guest artists are featured throughout the performance, all of which is TOTALLY IMPROVISED.

To call it mere performance art would be sadly missing the mark. This is an experience, a total experience which one has to be present for in order to fully receive the profound and long lasting effects.

The all-inclusive original motion picture which the band performs along to, includes just about everything from the creation of the universe, to religion, politics, sex, human consumption, pop culture, love and death.

All the while, the juggling Rabbi and Magi the magician are dazzling you with their well honed crafts amidst the compelling presence of the sultry and provocative belly dancers gyrations.

As if this wasn't enough to pique your interest, an insanely voluptuous mystery woman appears onstage and begins to lure you into her innermost private sanctum as she shares with you all of her secretive thoughts and desires which develop from a moody whisper to a blood curdling scream.

The music you ask? How does it sound? The Translucent Ham Sandwich sound is a culmination of all musical genres over the past 100 years. It does not have any prejudice or preference. It goes where it wants to go. It turns over every rock and seed and seeks out every individuals fantasy. It is a smorgasbord of sound, eclectic and absurd. It is fresh and newsworthy, borrowed and bluesy It is the sound of NOW.

The Translucent Ham Sandwich Band is here to deliver a message...and a sandwich, so come get it."

EVAN STONE- Musician

“Some people think, I on the other hand, think you shouldn’t!”

Perhaps stated in jest, this philosophy serves most musicians well.

For Evan Stone, Drummer/Bandleader of the Translucent Ham Sandwich Band, this philosophy serves him extremely well.

“When you are improvising for an hour and a half straight, there is no time to think. You must get into a headspace that doesn’t allow for normal thoughts to enter.”

Speaking of normal, it is exactly what the Translucent Ham Sandwich Band is not.

In it, you will find a stellar cast of world class improvisers, musicians, dancers, jugglers, magicians and artists of all kinds… even a print model as the proverbial ‘cherry on top’.
What kind of a musical statement is THSB trying to make, one might ask?

Stone would have you believe that the very meaning of it all is simply the reflection of the world as he sees it. “A vast open space ripened with pure creative energy, yet diluted with chaos and manipulation.”

“Creation, Negotiation and Maintenance seem to be the major players in our daily lives and they weave their way into my art as naturally they should.”

To better understand the mind behind the mastermind, perhaps we should take a look into his past…

Stone originally took up the trumpet and choir as a third grader in the small town of Bayport Long Island, New York. By the time he was 12, he took to banging on cardboard boxes, and after receiving his first drum kit, he joined a rock band and was playing professionally in clubs at the age of 13.

After moving to California at the age of 16, Evan studied under Master Drummer, Roy Burns (Benny Goodman, Woody Herman) for 5 years and continued his studies under such accomplished drummers such as: Peter Erskine, Jeff Hamilton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tom Brechtlein, Joel Taylor, Joey Heredia, Chuck Morris, Richie Morales, Moyes Lucas, Chad Wackerman, Dave Karasony, and Fred Weng.

Stone’s evolving, eclectic style has been shaped by artists such as: Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones, John Bonham and Stewart Copeland and his early musical influences include: The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Meters, The Police, Chicago, Tower of Power, Elton John, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa.

His travels have brought him around the world to perform his own music as well as having played the traditional role of sideman for some very well known artists in the entertainment industry.

This musical history has culminated into what we now experience as Evan Stone, the musician of today. Evan Stone has performed and recorded with numerous notables such as:

Kenny's music is unveiling the statue carved and created by talented Cherie Currie of The Runaways. We are also having a benefit concert and would like to hear from entertainers who are interested in the further research with stem cell and cancer research. All money raised will go to these charities directly. The statue is being made in honor of Sandy West (drummer for the Runaways). It is still early but we know that the Register newspaper will be writing a story. We also think a lot of the other media sources will be there, too. But we are looking for some celebrity participation so as to bring more people and be able to really raise awareness and hopefully some substantial donations. Foxla should be on hand concidering we won number one music store in Orange county 2009. We know there will be hundreds of people showing up for this wonderful event.
Time; 1pm-approx.3pm
Place; Kenny's Music 24731 La Plaza, Dana Point, CA 92629
Info; 949-661-3984
Ribbon cutting ceremony with a blessing and prayer and speakers.
Concert after in the nearby park. I will keep you posted as to who will be performing.
Please let me know if you want to participate.
