- “Evan Watson (NYC via IN–Richly-voiced—yes, you expect a much older, grisly entertainer, say even Joe Cocker or an echo of Eddie Vedder–with not-soon-forgotten hooks and choruses for some of the best, blusey love songs out there. He can hold his own with just a guitar, but has a wonderful backup band)” ---Refrain Magazine---
-"Evan Watson sounds like John Mayer and Dave Mathews rolled into a blues burrito. Mostly known for his live performances, the New York based muscician should provide a laid back treat for fans of jam and blues." ---John Conger Deli Nashville---
-Saturated in the blues and folk traditions of America, 24 year-old Indiana native Evan Watson writes accessible songs that flirt with pop melody lines, but always deliver a heart-felt original execution. With cited influences like the Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, The Band, Buddy Guy, and Ben Harper, Evan's live performance is riddled with soul, roots, and a helluva lot of guitar solos.
His recently assembled NYC band has already been featured at festivals like Bonnaroo and 10klf. Sharing the guitar responsibilities and also playing keys is Greg Mayo, son of music icon Bob Mayo. Playing bass is young session star Chris Anderson (Ingrid Michaelson). Adding unbridled passion and tempo to the live show is the south-paw British drummer Jonny Cragg (Spacehog, The 22's, Arc Kid). Chiming in with sweet harmonies and, if you're lucky, belting like the love-child of Robert Plant and Bonnie Raitt is Weschester native Rebecca Haviland. All in all, Evan Watson and his band provide a refreshing, rootsy, and overall exciting live experience.
I caught your performance in Baltimore at the WTMD First Thursday concert last week. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your performance, and your band is great. I had the opportunity thank Rebecca for a great show. From one musician to another, I think you really have something special. Keep up the great work. I hope to see perform you again sometime.
