About me:
SYNOPSIS Eve, a precocious nine-year-old with an overactive imagination, was born in the Year of the Fire Horse, notorious among Chinese families for producing the most troublesome children. Caught between her 11-year-old authoritative sisters fantasies of sainthood and cultural confusion and her own sense of right and wrong, Eve faces the challenges of childhood with fanciful humour and wide-eyed wonder. Set in Vancouver in the 1970's, the two sisters find their life paths diverging in this world where family life is strange, childhood is lonely, and religion perplexing. Sometimes the most troublesome children are the ones that touch us most deeply. WINNER - SPECIAL JURY PRIZE AT SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL! CHECK OUT THE GREAT REVIEWS! ROGER EBERT "LUMINOUS! Intelligent, delicate and touching. One of the most beloved films at Sundance this year . . . " VARIETY "EXCEPTIONAL! A slice of delicately captured childhood." CBC "Absolutely enthralling! An inspired generational document" THE GLOBE AND MAIL "Touching, funny and thoroughly enchanting! One of the most enchanting and memorable films made in this country." CINEMATICAL "A delightfully imaginative tale! Eve and the Firehorse is everything good filmmaking ought to be - rich, inventive storytelling, just the right touches of humor and levity, and heart-rending acting." SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY "A rare gem!" SEATTLE TIMES "The details of the girls' world are wonderfully captured; this film is a poignant charmer."
