Just like Dolly Parton, Everett Corbin got on that old Greyhound bus for Nashville in 1951, upon graduating from high school as valedictorian, this being no impediment to his love for country music. He arrived at Acuff-Rose Publications with a song which has become something of a classic for Vernon Oxford from THE OXFORD TOUCH cd, released in 2002, namely: IF KISSES COULD TALK. This and I LOVE TO SING have been his most successful songs , the latter staying on a gospel/Christian music chart in Europe during the past three years for some 7 long months.
Although he and Vernon Oxford will hopefully be back in the studio in July of this year (2006) for a gospel and bluegrass gospel cd, he is also looking for covers on many of these songs, such as IF KISSES COULD TALK, I LOVE TO SING, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE and a new one from the cd: A BLANKET OF STARS, to be released on the Diamond Back Records cd compilation in August. Just recently coming in at No. 19 on the ECMA chart (European Country Music Assn.) was still another song from the pen of Everett Corbin: (I Just Want) SOMEBODY TO LOVE ME...which shows that material from the Corbin pen, as sung by Vernon Oxford, has hit written all over it. But he is a very prolific songwriter, with songs in many categories, including novelty and pop, in addition to traditional country and gospel (and gospel bluegrass).
Those interested in hearing this material should contact Corbin at Corbin Music (BMI) at one of these e-mail addresses (or all three): ejcorbin@juno.com everettcorbin@juno.com countrymusic1@juno.com
...or, contact: Everett Corbin Corbin Music (BMI) 5801 Halls Hill Pike Murfreesboro, Tenn. 37130
Further, in an effort to finance the new Vernon Oxford cd, Corbin is offering lots of country music items for sale (he is a collector of sorts): thousands of old country music magazines, old radio shows, books, country music videos and movies, etc.
Finally, a concluding note: Everett Corbin is a former editor of MUSIC CITY NEWS (1966-67) and well versed in the history of country music, having written a book in 1980: STORM OVER NASHVILLE: A Case Against Modern Country Music. At the moment, in addition to promoting the singing career of Vernon Oxford, he is the writer for the classy, full-color THE NASHVILLE SYNDICATE magazine, with a recent feature on Elvis Presley. Upcoming news features include: Hank Williams and The Mothers' Best Radio Shows; Uncle Dave Macon, and a long article on "Yodeling", including information on Janet McBride, Carolina Cotton, Kenny Roberts, and a host of others.

Mr. Corbin, I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance. Thank you very much for the Friend Request. :-)
I love your songwriting and your music already, after a couple of verses. I had to open a separate browser so I can talk to you here and still listen.
Thank you! There's nothing I like more in this world than brand new music, I prayed for new music about two years ago, and it has been flooding into my life ever since. Therefore you, Everett, among many other friends here, are the answers to a prayer. :-)
