As the house band for the world-renowned ‘Mike Williams Pickin’ Party’ in Nashville, TN, The Evertones served as backing band for John Ford Coley, Laurie McClain, Michael Petersen and 400 or so of the world’s greatest singer/songwriters over the course of 11 years.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They did this with no rehearsal and no charts.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, in 1998, something happened: singer/songwriter CJ Watson was featured at the pickin’ party. A lifelong student of guitar improvisation himself, Watson was invited, first to sit in, then to join the band.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn’t long before he found out that Evertones bandleader Jeff Gilkinson had, as a songwriter and recording artist, a resume bigger than many of the people they were backing up. Watson asked him: “Why don’t you do your own gigs?” Gilkinson responded: “I’ve always been a member of a band.”-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“But we HAVE a band”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, I don’t mind singing some, but I won’t be the front man.”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---“I will.”---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, ok, then.”------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----The Evertones have been a Nashville staple ever since, playing famous venues like the Wildhorse Saloon, Bluebird Café and Hobo Joe’s and house gigs at the French Quarter, Cocktails and the legendary Broken Spoke. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------The Evertones can play full concerts of original Blues, Americana, Country, Bluegrass (or any combination thereof) and can jam with anyone else on the bill and not miss a beat.
The pleasure's all mine to be invited to your page! You guys are terrific and your songs....well....they're something else to say the least...from the lyrics to the cello licks! I've gotta come hear you live....I'm definitely hooked already!
Thanks for the add! Great stuff! Jeff & CJ, it's been a long time guys. I hope your doing great. Let us know if you need to track any of your tunes. We're turning out some great tracks.
Thanks for joining us at our Myspace home! With over 40 gigs across three libraries every year, Melbourne Libarary Service's Acoustica series offers local (and some not so local) musicians a chance to make some noise in a quite place, and reach a slightly different audience.
Ahhh - CJ!! Hi! I thought that guy in the drawing looked familiar! I enjoyed listening to your tunes and hope to see you sometime in Nashville. When's the big day?
Thanks for finding us on MySpace. When I listened to Coup de Ville I thought Bob Wills had walked in the room, or maybe that was Asleep at the Wheel. Whatever. It swings.
Thanks for requesting the Boggstown Cabaret a one-in-a-kind venue near Indianapolis featuring: LIVE music, comedy, audience interaction, and great food!
"An Amazing Place!" -Chris Proffitt, NBC
