About Everybody Wants Some - The Ultimate VH Experience!
HOT FOR TEACHER
From 1998-2001 Everybody Wants Some blazed a trail from NYC to South Carolina with one singular mission: to remind everyone what a what a rock-n-roll show looked and sounded like. Concentrating on Van Halen's most loved era - "the Roth years" and sporting a DLR clone, an Everybody Wants Some show was the next best thing to Van Halen!
Fast forward ten years since the inception of EWS. The reunited Van Halen with David Lee Roth at the helm are touring again and America's appetite for classic VH is unquenchable. It seemed the time was perfect for an EWS reunion as well.
Each member of EWS is a dyed-in-the-wool, overly-obsessed VH devotee and it shows in their playing. Let's start w/ Dennis Lee Roth. Here's a guy who has poured over countless bootleg videos in order to get every nuance of Roth's on-stage schtick down as well as all the campy moves and gyrations. Whenever EWS played a gig, whether it was at home in Baltimore or as far away as Myrtle Beach, Dennis would go live on the air at the local rock station and promote the show....totally in character as Diamond Dave. So convincing were his Roth-isms that he had to be sure to throw the word "tribute" in there every few minutes, otherwise the station would get beseiged with calls from fans asking if Van Halen was truly playing the local rock club.
Todd Miller's pedigree as an Eddie Van Halen encyclopedia is well-known. In the early 90's he played with Diver Down, another popular VH tribute act. After a brief stint in Hawaii, Todd came back to MD refreshed and ready to take the VH experience to the next level. At every EWS show, a cadre of Eddie worshippers would assemble stage-left, vying for position in front of Todd in order to see exactly how he recreated Eddie's magic. Todd's well-trained voice also helped recreate VH's trademark lush harmonies
For Dave DeMarco, the transformation into Michael Anthony was easy. Like the other members, he had the tell-tale worn out vinyl as proof of his VH allegiance. While it would have been easy (and passable) to just learn the overall vibe of the songs, forsaking the details, Dave wanted to pay personal tribute to Michael Anthony and do those well-crafted bass lines justice. He also knew that there might be a few bassists in the crowd expecting to hear them. It also didn't hurt that Dave could hit all of Anthony's high backups.
John Davis was born to portray Alex Van Halen. Just one look at his monsterous, vintage, white Ludwig kit and you'll see where his influences lie. John is known as one of the few drummers in town who can accurately play "Hot For Teacher". Of course, it wouldn't be a VH show without some fire! John's flame-engulfed drumsticks blaze around his kit during his signature drum solo.
In addition to sonically recreating the Van Halen experience, the members of Everybody Wants Some also spared no expense on the visuals. Expect to see Roth's red, white and blue spandex outfit, Eddie's white overalls and barber-pole socks, Michael's orange jumpsuit and Alex's jail-bird outfit. Add to this Dennis' uncanny resemblance to Diamond Dave and you've got a Van Halen feast for the eyes as well as ears.
Everybody Wants Some's 1st reunion show was in June 2008 @ McAvoy's in Parkville, MD. You've been given "fair warning"...

It's funny....I argue to everyone that the best VH trib is in Pennsylvania....and I can't even remember when I talked with you last. You guys put the Atomic Punks to absolute shame.
Hopefully you guys will make it out to Chi-Town someday....it's not totally impossible ya' know...
My argument fell apart when I realized you guys actually hail from B-More! (you see how often we keep in touch anymore?!?) You f#ckin' rock...you keep the spirit of the real Van Halen alive, and I hope you tour my neck of the woods sometime soon.
