Who I'd like to meet:

Gilda Ganezer is an ASL expert, co-creator, lyricist, co-producer, choreographer and sign model for DVDs at Everyday ASL Productions. With over 25 years of ASL teaching experience, Ms. Ganezer has trained teachers, students and ASL researchers the fundamentals of the language. Along with Avery, series of ASL curriculum for colleges, universities as well as adult education and programs were developed and are still in use today. She co-authored several instructional books on ASL and trained dozens of teachers teaching techniques with these books. Co-developed and directed ASL/English Idioms and their Translations videotape/workbook set, which was one of the best-selling set teaching the essentials of using idioms in various situations and dialect. Ms. Ganezer train teachers the methods of teaching ASL/English idioms with signing accuracies and precision (i.e. exhibiting ‘accents’ while expressing idioms). Also taught accredited ASL courses at Long Island University at C.W. Post. Ms. Ganezer developed and coordinated ASL and Deaf Culture curriculums, including Vista’s Signing Naturally series and A Basic Course in American Sign Language, which were then integrated and taught at nationwide ASL conferences for over 5 years that attracted hundreds of attendees from all parts of the world. Ms. Ganezer is proficient in teaching students, particularly the novice ones with minimal exposure to the language or Deaf Culture, the fundamentals of ASL grammar and sentence structures while promoting cultural and lingual respect among Deaf and hearing peers. She specializes in the fields of Deaf Interpreting working with interpreters as a team for Deaf people with minimal language skills. As a victim of abuse, Ms. Ganezer uses every effort as an animal rights supporter and is a dedicated animal activist. Ms. Ganezer uses all of her energies in teaching individuals about how each and every animal has feelings; particularly about how some animals may lack facial expressions or the ability to convey their message across, similarly the way Ms. Ganezer was unable to express all her life about the mistreatments she had endured. She is one of the first to ensure that Everyday ASL Productions would be committed in donating a part of all net proceeds to various animal-caring organizations. In the past, Ms. Ganezer had given up her business and daily routines to care for a canine with a rare form of cancer by creating and hand feeding specially made healthy diets, day by day, for over 7 years. These experiences have given Ms. Ganezer the opportunity to teach others, along with Avery, the world of ASL, healthy everyday living and especially compassion.

Avery Posner is an ASL educator; who is also the sign model, director, producer, and scriptwriter for every DVD produced. Mr. Posner was formerly a consultant and Certified Deaf Interpreter - Provisional (CDI-P) for the Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (RID) and is certified in Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) rater training program offered by Gallaudet University. Mr. Posner has over 18 years of experience in ASL curriculum developments and programs for universities, public school systems, hospitals and businesses. Also coordinated and taught over 8 years of Summer ASL courses for Deaf and hearing young children. Mr. Posner was also chosen to teach at a prominent private school for gifted students. Co-authored a well renowned ASL linguistics student workbook ASL Works: Levels 1-6 and also authored and co-directed ASL/English Idioms and their Translations videotape/workbook set. Mr. Posner has been inducted into eleven honor societies while attending Hofstra University and graduate school in New York. Also taught accredited ASL courses at Long Island University at C.W. Post and Nassau Community College. Mr. Posner had also received a community service and academic excellence award from the Nassau County Office of the Executive. He had coordinated and utilized SCPI evaluations and assessments at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in the state of New York followed with a specialized in-service ASL program. In addition to a number of experiences above, Mr. Posner also taught and directed ranging levels, from beginners to advanced, of ASL and interpreter courses as well as certified professionals at ASL national conferences, Interpreter Training courses and Deaf Interpreter Training programs. Mr. Posner also worked with Deaf patients with minimal language skills as a Deaf Interpreter with adept abilities to translate concepts and ideas without losing a meaning. He traveled around the country in providing a series of lectures on ASL and Deaf Culture. He was televised in an effort to enhance cultural and lingual awareness among Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and hearing communities. Mr. Posner also is an animal rights supporter and an animal activist. He had saved a canine from a rare terminal cancer by helping with medical treatments and procedures for over two years. While ASL is used as a medium to convey ideas, visual arts and education, Mr. Posner is working closely with Ms. Ganezer towards teaching people of all cultures the importance of being kind to all animals.
