Today 1,500 Americans will attempt to take their own lives. Most will have mental health or addiction issues. Many will have both. One out of four adults is affected by a mental health disorder. Odds are that most of us have friends or family becoming more desperate with every tick of the clock.
There is a way to stop the ticking. Research. We can defeat mental illness by employing the scientific mind to find individual treatment plans. But the funding is inadequate for an issue that affects every one of us, the 57 million directly or the rest of us through our family and friends. We must declare our concern. Together, we can stop the clock.
Accelerating mental health research will promote true recovery and resilience by offering individualized treatments plans that eliminate the need for trial and error diagnosis. everyminute.org is a grassroots campaign organizing a lobbying force to advocate before Congress for increased research that may ultimately cure or prevent mental illnesses like depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety that contribute to suicide.

The Jason Foundation needs volunteers to participate in Jason's Walk, an event to raise awareness about youth suicide, on May 2.
168 volunteers are needed to gather at Hendersonville High School Football Stadium (located on Indian Lake Road in Hendersonville) at 10 AM and walk 12 laps (three miles) around its running track. Bobby Johnson, head football coach at Vanderbilt, will be among those walking.
Hey, just wanted to let you know about this awarding we have! And we were hoping you could help spread the word! We are presenting The Jerry Greenspan Student Voice of Mental Health Award for college students. This award is for a video on their experiences with mental health issues and how they are working to raise awareness and encourage their peers on the issue. i can so believe all the facts and statistics on here.in fact, im one of them, i attempted today.at least i can take some comfort in knowing that there are groups like this out there that are trying to make a difference
