About me:
First let me begin by saying hello, my name is Melanie Herman. I live in a small town in the state of Washington called White Salmon. And I am a Paranormal Investigator or as our team would rather refer to ourselves as “Ghost Hunters”. The reason I say this is because we go out and intentionally look for paranormal activity. There are numerous groups that do not agree with the way that we conduct our hunts, but they don’t have to!!
I guess I need to back up for a moment and explain how I got interested in this field. Well I had really never pondered over whether or not ghosts or entities existed. I really didn’t have an opinion either way. Until I started dating a friend, Chad Zumwalt also the founder of our team, that I had known pretty much my entire life, He asked me one night if I had ever been on a Ghost Hunt, and I told him heck no, I had never even been in a cemetery after dark!! I always thought that I would be way too scared!! He talked me into going out and I thought Wow, this is kind of fun, but I didn’t really think that there was any kind of paranormal activity going on. We just walked around this old Indian cemetery and took pictures with a 5 mega pixel digital camera. Then we went home to take a look and see how our pictures turned out!! I was so amazed by the mist and the hexagonal orbs that we had picked up. It just really surprised me to see these things in the pictures that I had taken because I did not see them while we were there!! That was all it took I was officially hooked on trying to go out and see what type of other activity we could capture!! And this is how our method of hunting came into development! LOL
Chad, being his not so patient self decided that He would investigate in his own way!! Most people would call it taunting, but I don’t like to think of it as that, because all He is doing is whatever it takes to get a reaction. We have found that this works for us!! I personally think that it’s more than likely because spirits and things of the paranormal realm seem to be attracted to Chad. I told him it must be that out-going personality and charm of his..LOL
Anyway, I am still a new comer to the paranormal field, but Chad has been doing it since he was about 16 years of age. He has really taught me a lot! And opened my eyes up to a whole new world that I would love to find out as much as I can!!
We don’t use fancy equipment and the glamor of Hollywood or the tricks of cameras!! We would really actually like to see what is out there!! We conduct our investigations in a lot of cemeteries! We seem to pick up a lot of activity in the old abandoned ones around the area in which we live, but we would love to broaden the areas in which we seek out our paranormal activity! We prefer not to do personal in-home investigations, because we do taunt the entities in order to get a reaction and I’m sure you will agree with me when I say this, and most of the world has grown up being taught that you DO NOT do that!!
Our team is not like the rest of the so-called paranormal investigating teams out there. We seek out activity, but we do it in our own unique way. I do not recommend that other teams conduct their investigations like we do ours because there are still boundaries and rules that have to be followed in order to keep everyone safe. You have to know when it’s time to back off and vacate the premises, another words, a person must learn to recognize the signs that they have pushed the limit as far as they can. Also there are rules that apply to how a person taunts a spirit or entity. It has to be done on a non-personal level, which means NO conjuring or inviting the spirit to join you. A person should not ask personal questions and try to befriend these Poltergeists you can never tell what you are really dealing with! It may be a human spirit which in my own opinion and from things that I have experienced I really don’t think that it’s our dead relatives hanging around! I mean if you stop and think about it for a second, our whole lives we have been taught that Heaven is this wondrous place, then honestly why would you want to hang around when you can finally enter the place that you have been striving for your whole life?
