This is a work in progress, if you have any corrections/additions, please mail or comment, thanks... THE FITT FAMILY's vocalist/guitarist McDowell and guitarist/vocalist Harvey recriuted ex-LUNCHHEAD / SCULLY WEBB / NEFARION bassist Caisley and ex-LUNCHHEAD drummer Anderton to form THE COUCH POTATOES in 1988, playing such all-star venues as the Gosport Labour CLub, Southbourne Village Hall and Havant College Battle of the Bands, which we I believe we won and Anderton won best musican, even as a drummer. Clarkey was flogging hotties in the chaging rooms, that I do remember. And there was a security dog. The style was blues-rock with more than a passing nod to AC/DC. Somehow we never got a kicking at the hands of the bikers we played to, even at the age of 18, the band got free beer and paid 3-figure sums for a gig. Those were the days, eh? Then we played several tours of holland of which collectively we can recall a total of about three gigs, memorable moments involve extremely violent football match with other bands, playing for lager after bar owner did a runner ( bless the bar staff, they gave us a crate each, it was messy ), gigs to no-one, more fights, and especially phil challenging so called anarchist bar manager chinged up " so let's get this straight, you squat someone elses property, then charge people to enter it, is that right , correct me if i'm wrong" unquote, upon which the guy does a runner and lets us drink the place dry, which we did :)
